Oh I see.... I heard some bad things about Marshall though Their ferrets get desexed too early for one ( ferrets used for experimentation, inbreeding, etc. I know they've made changes though Its so good you're rescuing [img src="http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h352/JW_2012/Emoticons/ .gif" src="http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h352/JW_2012/Emoticons/ .gif"] I would if I could except there are no ferrets in shelters near me :/ so Cashew came from a private breeder. Wow 5 ferrets must be a handful Most of us aren't fans of Marshall's for those reasons. It's a business for them and some of their practices seem so inhumane. The babies are shipped in little boxes, too young. They are tattooed and desexed and descented. They supply ferrets for research, they breed for color and that has resulted in alot of deaf ferrets. They sell a crummy food and their ferrets come with a warranty that insists you use their food. Those of us in the Ferret community know better. However, each and every ferret needs a home and I just hope that the majority of them will find good homes. Five is a handful and we are free roam in my house. I love it and we have so much fun. I just brought home a little girl who is deaf and my two oldest haven't taken to her yet. So we are a house divided and working on teaching her to make friends. I'm glad Thérèse responded, she's Lovely and a very good Ferrent.

I have 4 hobs (actually 3 hobs and a v-hob), so I was speaking from experience lol. It is true though, most people over here can have ferrets for years and if they don't go looking for a breeder, they will never have to deal with an intact ferret. At the moment I've got the 4 hobs, 4 jills and 3 high maintenance rescues. Radagast is a 22 week old hob. So I do know where you're coming from. He's being difficult at the moment because he was abusing his mom and sisters so they beat him up. He's now running solo (my guys are rarely caged but have special areas) and his taking his frustrations out on me (brat (headwall) ) I'm trying to be his friend but his personality is very rough to deal with as is his odour :face: . I was thinking I was through with stinky hobs until at least Christmas ciao

Whoops I kind of forgot about this convo for a while (goldfish memory) but I didn't want to leave any of you hanging.. RECAP: my 10 month old unneutered ferret would drag, bite and even go as far as gnaw on my fingers with his back teeth. He would attack hands and feet, especially if trying to escape his wrath. He would lunge and make this aggressive chirping noises (like a dook) :/ He also refused his normal dry food and would only eat raw so I thought maybe he developed a taste for only raw meat.. But those who said it was mating behaviour were absolutely right!! Which I suppose is a good thing :/ I'd much rather him be horny than trying to eat me. Anyway, I only realised this a couple weeks ago at my friends house. He started getting extremely nippy there which soon progressed to humping.. I suppose the reason I've never seen him hump before is because the minute he nips too hard I scruff him and put him back in his cage so he never gets a chance to :/ But ferrets humping humans is practically unheard of...at least to my knowledge. AGAIN, THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S HELP! I WAS AT MY WITS END D: thankfully I never once considered giving him away but I admit I was very very annoyed. Now I know the reason though I a lot more forgiving. It's not his fault, just his survival instincts

It's good that you truly understand where your brat is coming from but still don't let him get away with it. If he's being rougher than you like give him a time out in the box. Radagast and I've had a few words (he's now 6 months old). I told him I will not tolerate his hobnoxious ways. He finds himself in isolation if he bites me. He's learning, I'm not one of his sisters and I just won't tolerate his frustrations. Good luck ciao
