So I've been curious to see if anyone takes their ferrets with them when they go places, not like on vacation but maybe to McDonalds drive thru (hehe) or perhaps to the dry cleaners or even to the pet store or something? I know ferrets are pretty wild, but for those who aren't too rambunctious, what do you think? Nothing prolonged, nowhere like Church or School, just on mini roadtrips. I haven't, they only get to ride in the car on the way to the Vet but my boy Caillou is very calm in the car, which is weird because he is super hyper and always on the go, but once we get in the car he'll just lay in my lap and let me pet him, or sleep in his carrier like nothing. Love to hear others opinions and experiences

Next month we're taking all nine on vacation. I h looked around on the net for w couple days before i found what looks like the perfect place. Pics and stories when we get back m

Ferrets enjoy going all over the place. I've taken mine to prowl around town, brought them with me a number of times when I did art shows. As long as I brought them a litter box and a place to crash they were good to go. New places offer a different type of stimulation and as long as it's with people they love and trust they enjoy themselves. My guys have done meet and greets at local pet stores and rescue fund raisers. They've gone to the farmer's market to pick out their dinners and to make new friends. There are some ferrets that find this very stressful but often being snuggled in your shirt will help them feel more comfortable with new environments ciao

What did you use to carry them around when you took them places? Or did you hold them or carry them in their carrier? I may start taking them places, probably take Caillou more since Jules isn't cooperative when we leave the house. It isn't too hot where I'm at, depending on the time and month of course. Rarely does it go higher than 85 degrees. Usually in the 70s. Though I wouldn't leave them in the car if it was hot, I'd just put him in my purse and sneak him in... (giggle) (just kidding btw haha)

Depends where I'm going and what I was doing. I always had their car travel carrier. Just a simple cage with a litter box, blankies, a hammy or a cube and a bowl with water (remove water before leaving with the car, unless of course you don't care if your ferret takes up swimming ). At art shows I had a full two story cage that they got to hang out in, it was just part of my art booth. They always were harnessed and belled. If I was just prowling, shopping, I have a sling type carrier that they just rode around in on my hip. I'd originally purchased 2 of them to carry around my sickies when I was working around the house but I discovered that the furkids love to travel around in these and were very content to just hang out peering out of the satchel at people. If they weren't riding around in this then they were on my shoulder or in my arms. ciao

Sometimes! I like taking Remus to pet stores with me (he stays in the cart away from over enthusiastic animals and children) and to the park. I took him to a farmer's market once but it was way too crowded and busy for me to feel comfortable doing it again.

I know some people ride them around in their hoodies but they have to actually liike it. We have a pet stroller and a small dog carrier with a shoulder strap. Be aware that a lot of stores won't allow them especially food stores. Our bank allows pets and i take one every week to cash my paycheck. Ive learned to give them a chance to walk around outside first to lessen the chance of an embarrassing accident inside.

Mine does not have their rabies shot, and here in NC if they bite someone---they will have to be be quarantined for 10 days if they do not have rabies shot. This is according to my vet, who accidently, after nicking herself on canine teeth of a ferret had to call police! It is law.
I am afraid mine would get under pedal of accelerator if i turned it loose in car.haha. Everyone loves to see ferrets when i take them to vet. I tell people how u have to ferret proof your house that they are not lap animals. Just dont want people to buy one cause they are cute unless they r willing to be a dedicated owner.

I take one mine every now and then to petsmart. I do not do this often enough to create a pattern, I also have to make sure there is no law enforcement in there before I bring them in. I would love to take them more places but with them not being legal in California I have to be careful.
I wish California knew How ignorant they are making their citizens. I get reactions to wow that is a huge rat, to what is that, occasionally i will get wow. look at the ferret or arn't those illegal.
I will get responses from the employees like I have not seen one of those in a while. I guess they have to know what they are since they stock that tiny little section and have pictures of them on the display.
I may end up relocating out of California and then my ferrets will no longer be fugitives.

Wow that's crazy! Quarantining, really? There has only been a handful of rabid pets in the US, ever. I don't think a pet has ever given a human rabies though. My ferrets don't get their rabies shots, only their distemper. In TN it's not a law for them to get rabies and they are never outside plus all our dogs and cats are vaccinated for it so I just don't bother giving them an unnecessary vaccine either. I actually didn't give my ferret Neichei her distemper for the past year or two because of her insulinoma, my vet said it'd be fine if she didn't get any shots because all our others were vaccinated for it.
And I can't believe California still has a law against ferrets! I don't get that at all.

My ferrets travel with me downstairs of our building to the laundry, and to the store across the road if we need to get something there. They just travel on my shoulder or in my arms. If it is cool outside they travel in my jacket. They are very excited for these little trips. It is all usually no longer than 15-30 minutes.

On nice cool days we take Icarus to our local water street market for lunch at their outside patio. He also comes along when we go to petsmart or anywhere he can actually go in. In the past I've taken our ferrets for mini hikes in the mountains and I'm hoping after we move to Florida that we can go to the beach.

I take mine walkies to the bottom of our street there is plenty of communal grass and many folks property is lined with hedges & bushes so the ferts sniff and explore the grass and dive into the bushes. It takes me 20 min just to walk them to there. Haggis will take a 5 second shoulder ride on the way there but they almost always run back home afterwards as the know dinner is waiting for them
