No k1bble at th1s po1nt 1s great! 1 was just check1ng to see, where we are at. 1 knew that you had removed k1bble awh1le back, but somet1mes ferrents get nervous and worr1ed, and st1ll offer some k1bble.
1 asked about the g1zzards, because 1n your or1g1nal thread, you ment1oned tartar on h1s teeth. G1zzards can help w1th that and help bu1ld up h1s jaw strength.
Well, let's see how you d1d at the grocery store and we w1ll be ready to bu1ld a menu.

It was just a quick pit stop and I totally forgot to grab the kidneys ._. oops. But! I did pick up beef and two boneless skinless chicken breasts (half). They're in the fridge right now and Sev's hungry. I can tell. Also, I'm curious I've noticed I'm developing a severe reaction to Sev and I'm wondering could it be from all the liver? When I first got him I had mild itchiness like I would get from my dog and it wouldn't always happen either. But since switching him to soupie my allergies went haywire. I itch all the time and I have this nasty rash on my mouth from kissing and nuzzling him. Honestly I didn't even think it was him, until flared suddenly when I got home from work and gave him kisses and nuzzles (which I haven't really been able to do since the onset of the rash because of all the creams and ointments I've been slathering on my face) after being itch free all day. Anyway, I'm going to go cut some meat for him and feed him. I'm sure he's starving now.

1 posted on the Mentors board and Sherry asked: How old 1s he? What are your normal allerg1es and how long has Severus been on the soup?

Yeah, they don't seem to do much, just make me tired. The thing that helps most is hydrcortisone cream on my face rash. This all started maybe around 3 1/2 to 4 weeks? I'd been good, hardly any itching or anything and then it came on quite suddenly though I didn't notice it was from him at the time. That was also when I noticed his smell shifted and became unpleasant to me and almost over-bearing. I'm just hoping that it's the liver build up, He gets two oz in one batch of soupie and he can eat one whole batch (2-3 chicken hearts, 8 oz of muscle meat and skin, 2 oz of chicken or beef liver, 1/2 tsp of ground eggshells) in about 2-3 days, depending on how hungry he is.
That's also when I roughly changed from beef liver to chicken liver. On the tenth of last month

I have mild allergies to animal dander, cats bother me most but it's mild compared to this. He's been on the soupie since the 29th of June, so a little over a month now. But like I said this all started around the 10th of july. Also his exact age is unknown, but I'm thinking around 9 months now. 7 months when I got him in May.

1 know that your rash 1sn't any fun. 1'm ask1ng around to see 1f anyone has any 1deas.
We need to work on a menu and move away from the soup1e rec1pe. L1ver does bu1ld up 1n the1r systems, and should be only 10 percent of the1r weekly menu. 1n the w1ld, 1f they caught some prey, let's say a mouse and they ate 1t all, the mouse would be mostly bone and meat. The organs would be a small part of what 1s 1n the mouse. L1ver, wh1ch has v1tam1n A, stores 1n the body and unl1ke v1tam1n B, wh1ch 1s water soluable, doesn't flush out of the body.
That doesn't mean that we can't use soup to 1ntroduce a new prote1n. You can st1ll puree meat, and offer 1t to Severus. We w1ll just leave out the L1ver and hearts. Once on the weekly menu, Severus w1ll have h1s l1ver on organ days and h1s hearts on heart/organ days.
When you get a chance, please look 1n your fr1dge and bu1ld a bas1c menu. You menu should look l1ke th1s: (feel free to rearrange bone 1n, organs, or muscle meat meals, to su1t your schedule). We'll start off w1th Sunday:
Sunday a.m. muscle meat p.m. Bone 1n
Monday a.m. muscle meat p.m. bone 1n
Tuesday a.m. muscle meat p.m. bone 1n
Wednesday a.m. organ meal Half L1ver plus Half other Organ p.m. bone 1n
Thursday a.m. bone 1n p.m. bone 1n
Fr1day a.m. muscle meat p.m. bone 1n
Saturday a.m. Organs: half L1ver half other organ plus a half meal of heart p.m. bone 1n
the menu should have: a m1n1mum of three prote1ns one muscle meal should be hearts one muscle meal should be beef (h1gh 1n 1ron and v1tam1n B Bone 1n meals w1ll be non we1ght bear1ng bones of a ch1cken s1ze an1mal or smaller. ch1cken w1ngs, corn1sh game hen, qua1l, duck w1ngs. You may need to smash them a l1ttle to help Sev get started. w1ng t1ps are the eas1est for h1m, 1n the beg1nn1ng.
Okay, any quest1ons?

Well we still haven't gotten him fully eating even chunks of protein, let alone smashed bone. Will he be alright just getting muscle meat on those days? And how long does soup last in the freezer? I have two more batches of the stuff and I figured I'd just save them for if he gets sick or stops eating.
Also it's weird, but I could have sworn my allergy was to him. However I wanted to make sure so I thoroughly washed my hands, arms, face, and changed shirts. I then rubbed him against my left arm, and half of my face. While my face reacted a little my arm had no reaction at all. And my face could of been reacting because I just washed it and then rubbed him against it. So I don't know what's wrong still. I know it must be a reaction to something, but what that is... I don't know.

Sadly I don't have health care and while I could afford the test to find what I am allergic to, it would be a huge blow to my bank account and I like to keep in nice and padded, in case something happens to Sev, and I need to drain my entire bank account to save him.

Have you recently bought some new soaps or a new fragrance? D1d you change laundry soap? One of our Mentors, B1tbyter has a l1ttle female who has allerg1c react1ons to the hormones 1n ch1cken. 1t would be 1ron1c, 1f that 1s your tr1gger.
We can stay on the soup awh1le longer, unt1l you feel more comfortable and Severus 1s eat1ng b1gger p1eces of meat. We're not 1n any hurry.
On h1s next meal, try putt1ng out all sl1ces, whatever s1ze that you know, he w1ll eat. Then just puree a l1ttle of the ch1cken or turkey (let me know what prote1n, you use) pour just a l1ttle over 1t (gett1ng 1t wet, not soupy).
Don't add any l1ver or heart but add some eggshell powder (to keep h1s Poo f1rm) We can do that for several meals, and hopefully, he w1ll beg1n eat1ng some b1gger sl1ces and then we can slowly 1ncrease the s1ze. Let's use the same prote1n for the next 3 or 4 meals and see how that goes.
Follow1ng the Frankenprey menu, we can offer soup1e w1th organs, tw1ce dur1ng the week, unt1l Severus 1s ready for the next stage and we add bone.
Generally, he 1s eat1ng around 2oz a meal, correct? 1s he hungr1est at breakfast or d1nner?
The soup w1ll hold 1n the freezer, qu1te well. 1've never had to freeze 1t for very long, but personally, 1 wouldn't freeze 1t any longer than s1x months.

I guess I should start weighing out his meals, but yeah, I'd say about 2oz per meal 2 (sometimes 3) times daily. Today He hasn't eaten much since I refused to play into to his demands and give him 'soup' this afternoon(really it's more like a cottage cheese consistency). Today's protein is chicken. He's getting meat mush with chunks. Yum. *Barf*
And my friend had that same idea. I've never handled much chicken in my life and now I'm constantly messing with it. My friend pointed out that this all started when I began switching him to raw and he has a point. It all started right around there. So I don't know. :/ It's certainly not fun.

PM B1tbyter or look for some of h1s threads. He has gathered alot of 1nfo on the hormones that are 1njected 1nto ch1ckens and what to look for, to avo1d those ch1ckens and f1nd the hormone free poultry.
Th1s even1ng or h1s next meal, try cutt1ng some long th1n sl1ces, run them under some very warm water and dangle 1t, 1n front of Severus. Try to get h1m to take one. Do that a few t1mes and see 1f he w1ll accept 1t. Maybe you should p1ck up a pa1r of rubber gloves and see 1f that helps any. Severus w1ll go 1nsane over the gloves, but 1t m1ght help you.

Severus 1s go1ng to be a l1ttle more stubborn than we thought. You w1ll probably come home to f1nd h1s soup 1s gone. Let's hope so. Maybe Severus l1kes pr1vacy, when he eats. We could try a feed1ng den.

Actually he likes to eat when I supervise him, he'll keep glancing to me for approval. Also ignore any spelling mistakes I might make, I'm using my husband's pc and I'm not used to his keyboard. I'm going to keep hand feeding him the chicken protein mush and chunks. He's not fond of strips either, he prefers cubes and will spit out strips after chewing on them. Cubes he'll eat more readily. And yeah, after a quick glance at his bowl it's still full from this morning. I'll hand feed him in a few minutes.
