Hope hubby's mom is ok? And you had a good weekend? We worked like crazy, it was probably one of the last weekend with very sunny days, so we built a roof on half of the outside enclosure There is still a long list of details I would like to finish before snow, but no hurry now Oh, does she react on any pork brand or only a particular brand? I have Rosie having issues with chicken, she loves to eat it, but some gives her really bad poo, still trying to figure out the pattern, but it isn't as obvious Menu is good! ;D Keep the good work up, you really got the hang of it Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

I think this particular pork cut had a little bit more fat than Bonnie is used to having. Also, I bought it at Walmart and they don't really pay much attention to the things the animals are eating. Next time I am going with a leaner and 100% organic =) weights are fluctuating a little bit but I expected that since it got cooler and then warmed back up and now is getting cooler again. Poor babies are just so confused! It's this great southern weather we have I have noticed that Bonnie is being more playful in the mornings. I think she likes feeling the breeze through the windows. She has even been dooking and chasing Fred. Fred is such a rough player that she avoids him mostly but she gave him " what for" this morning Menu this week: Monday: whole ground duck / chicken organ mix( .5 heart .25 liver .25 other) Tuesday: CGH with bone / boneless bison Wednesday: whole ground goose / chicken wings Thursday: quail with bone / CGH with bone Friday: whole ground duck / chicken organ mix(.5 .25 .25) Saturday: boneless lamb / quail with bone Sunday: chicken legs with bone / whole ground goose I have been adding a little bison heart with the organ mix bc It comes already mixed and chopped and I just want to make sure they are getting enough heart for the taurine. I have only dom=ne it the last couple times. Do you think that's okay or is that too much? Can they even have too much taurine?

Gosh I'm running late with my answer, you should poke or hit me, instead of waiting patiently! Menu is good, does it go well with the grinds? Sometimes ferrets tend to eat more than necessary with grinds. I wouldn't worry about the taurine part of the diet, if you feel better you can add bison heart. You can't overfeed in taurine, it's water soluble and excess gets flushed by the body Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

The grinds go great. They actually eat about the same but I've noticed that the girls like them a little more than the boys. I try to keep them spaced out so they have crunchy bone in between. I just like that it gives me the ability to feed proteins that I otherwise wouldn't be able to. Don't worry about the responses. I saw all the stuff you've been doing with those enclosure and you've been busy! It looks great? I wish I had more room outside to do that for my fuzzies

I would love to have a HareToday here, I'm pretty sure my ferrets would love to get more "exotic" meats Thank you for your comprehension, yes this week and the next are terribly busy; but afterwards I should have it a bit more relaxed They love their new home, it needs some adjustment: temperatures are dropping pretty fast now, so I have to prepare more insulated sleeping boxes! And they eat as if there is no tomorrow, it equals to the amount of a chicken per day, really scarry, haha! (Ok, I feed more than enough, because my neighbour has 3 little kittens and they love to eat leftovers, they are so terribly cute, can't resist to feed them as well..) I guess we have it pretty good here. Temps drop pretty steadily at little at a time before it really gets cold. I have been closing the vents in their room so that they can feel it getting cooler and when I am home I will open the windows bc they go all the way to the floor and they can sit in the window sills and feel the breeze. I am such a worry wart about keeping them shut if I go to run errands or something about getting the windows closed bc I have read so many sad stories of ferrets escaping through screens and cracks.
I also feed my cat the leftovers from the fuzzies. She is an outside cat and has a high prey drive. She hardly ever eats kibble bc she would rather catch her food and I only leave it out if I go out of town so I know she has something to eat if she doesn't catch anything. She is fast! =)
I just started a new job teaching weight lifting classes at my gym so my days have become very hectic too. I've been a stay at home mom for 11 years so this is all really new for me but I love it!

AAAAAND we have weight gain=) Clyde has gone all the way from 3lbs 4oz to 3lbs 10oz in the last 3 weeks =) and 3 of those ounces in just the last week. He has been eating like a maniac and his coat is just gorgeous but of course Bonnie's coat always wins for most fluffy and soft. She poof out like crazy during the winter. She is the heaviest right now that she's been since I rescued her..she's at 2 lbs 10oz! Fred only weighs 2 more ounces than her. Daisy is plumping a little but she's never reached 2 pounds in the whole time I've had her. She's close at 1 pound 11 ounces. They are getting so soft and fuzzy =)
I haven't posted a menu in a bit so I thought I would this week just so you can check it and make sure I am still on the right path.
Monday: whole ground goose / Chicken with bone
Tuesday: chicken heart / CGH with bone
Wednesday: whole ground turkey /duck liver and cow pancreas (.5 .5)
Thursday: boneless beef cubes/ quail with bone
Friday: whole ground goose / chicken wings
Saturday: boneless lamb / CGH with bone
Sunday: whole ground chicken / quail with bone they aren't really crazy about the pancreas so I am mixing it with the duck livers I just got in bc they absolutely ADORE duck =)
They also have a vet visit this week so we'll see how that goes. Bonnie has a bit of tartar on one tooth near the back of her mouth bc I have been in and out of town and my mom was watching off and on the last 2 weeks. I didn't want to overwhelm her with all that too. I will just brush that tooth a few extra times over the next few weeks and maybe up the bone in meats I offer. Clyde had some a couple months ago but it's clean now. However, I cannot do anything about the yellow color on their teeth =( Is it just because they are almost 3? and had been fed very nasty kibble for the first years of their life? Bc I have had Daisy on raw since she was 6 months old and her teeth are gorgeous =)

Yay, lets get chunky! Will you post pictures when they are filled out with winter fat? My ferrets are getting massive, I guess that's the difference between living inside and mostly outside, and I'm pretty stunned how much they like it, I was so worried and unsure if it is ok to put them from living in an appartment into those enclosures, but they really enjoy it ;D they love to go downstairs to their warm beds and take food with them, but they also love the rough weather and playing in the rain. Even Holly my oldest girl appears a few years younger now, I caught her playing all by herself in the rain chaising drops! ;D And the best is: they love to come into the appartment that's now a big adventure for them, they love it when I take them inside for play and a nap. Your menu is great! Where the heck did you find duck liver? I know I repeat myself but I envy your shopping possibilities! Regarding teeth, it is hard to say if it is coloration from junk food or a natural yellowish tint. Like humans some ferrets seem to have beautiful white teeth and others not. Yay this saturday is my last day of the move, next week my tasks are pretty clear: unpacking all my stuff, I'm so happy that this is soon over Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

so we went to the vet today and got rave reviews! She was very pleased with their teeth and very happy with their winter weights and coats. The whole office couldn't stop talking about how pretty they were =)
I found the liver on Hare Today. I wish I could find you a site similar to it for you. It really is awesome!
Oh, I almost forgot!!! When I went in the pet store after the vet visit to find them a new toy for being so good during their check-ups ( they got a new pirate ship hammock) the lady working the floor came to see my babies and told me she had 2 of her own. She inquired as to their diet and told me that veggies and fruit weren't good for them. I had to laugh a little bc I then informed her that mine are all raw fed and do NOT eat any kibble. She was very interested so I told her about the group page on FB. She is currently feeding hers a "grain free" kibble and knows that it's really not good for them even if it says that on the bag. Hopefully she will join the page and then be able to educate anyone who purchases on of the MANY ferret babies they have there.

I'm happy to read that the vet visit went so well! Do you have a menu for this week? I'm sorry for running so late, the weekend was a bit extreme I gave my appartment back after a marathon cleaning, I am now officially living at the new place only, yay! I drove 3 hours to pick up 2 ferrets, one who is a weird medical case. Then 3 more old ferrets got dumped at my place I got contacted by a girl who wants to get rid of 2 young intact ferrets (male and female living together), need prayers that the female isn't pregnant! And our new appartment is a mess, I have cardboxes everywhere, and for the moment no space for 2 more ferrets! -.- Oh great, would she register for the forum or the fb group? Let me know if I can be of help, watching for a name, letting somebody join Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

WOW! You are going to be overrun with ferrets! At least you have the big outdoor enclosure. I really hope that the female you are getting isn't pregnant but I have a bad feeling that that might t=be the reason the lady is willing to part with them =(
It sounds like you have had a crazy few days! Mine have been a little crazy too. I woke up one day with a weird feeling in my legs and even though they carried me all day I always had the feeling that they were going to give out under me at any moment. It turns out that somehow I have gotten a compressed disk in my back and it is pressing on a nerve causing my legs to feel weak. I ended up having to get some meds and go to physical therapy. They still aren't 100% but I am feeling a little better.
My menu for this week is limited bc I haven't been able to get to the store to buy my rabbit and CGH so this weeks menu is lacking in a lot of variety. My husband is going to go for me either today or tomorrow and hopefully will be receiving my new shipment from Hare Today by next week.
Monday: chicken wings / CGH with bone
Tuesday: hearts / boneless bison
Wednesday: whole ground chicken / turkey organs (.5 liver .5other mix)
Thursday: whole ground turkey/ chicken with bone
Friday: CGH with bone/ boneless bison
Saturday: whole ground turkey / chicken thigh(with bone)
Sunday: CGH with bone / whole ground chicken
I know it is a little chicken and turkey heavy but I managed to sprinkle in a couple other proteins. By next week, I hope to have it back to at least 5 or 6 proteins. I hate that they are having to suffer this week but I just haven't been able to get around like I needed. Hope all goes well with your new babies!

I'll pick them up this afternoon, prepared a quarantine cage for them... Hope everything goes fine, I'll update you this weekend I havent decided yet if I'll keep them, they are still young and I'm pretty sure they'll find a good home if I put them for adoption... Oh no, do you feel better now? Yes the menu is ok, and don't worry your ferrets will be ok with a limited choice of flavors/proteins! Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

Sorry it took me so long to get back with you! This past week was crazy and I absolutely forgot until this morning that I replied over a week ago =( My husband's nanny died and the kids have had so many events at school. I finally got my shipment from Hare Today so this weeks menu will be great Monday: whole ground goose / bison heart Tuesday: quail with bone / boneless pork Wednesday: CGH with bone/ whole ground chicken Thursday: turkey organ mix (.5 liver .5 other) / rabbit with bone Friday whole ground pheasant / boneless duck Saturday: CGH with bone / quail with bone Sunday: whole ground goose / rabbit with bone I hope the new additions are doing great! I think I saw a pic of them playing on FB

No worry, I was just about to write you a fb-message to ask if you are ok, and before sending it I checked the forum, and voilà: you are here! Yeah it is a busy crazy time, isn't it? But: at least we have snow! Ok it is just a little bit, but all looks so sugarcoated white, love it! Oh the menu is yummie! I'm looking forward going shopping for after Christmas meat sales, I already saved up some money, I so want to get a whole turkey, whole goose and whole duck! Fresh whole dressed birds are expensive here, after Christmas is the perfect time to stock up; watching the full-belly faces of the ferrets, it's worth every penny The two young crazies? They are excellent, so much fun and happily not in season, no pregnant female! They had to live in a small cage without bedding at their previous place without out of cage time The first few days they were a bit difficult to handle, but they just needed to get their energy out! They so needed to run and jump!!! Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards
