Yiiiihhhaaa! Menu is good! Hmmmm, I would have the taurine references on my pc, no clue if bison would be listed as well... let me see if I could find it online as well, they anounced rain for tomorrow, so I'd like to stay in bed and google a bit with a coffee ^^ I soooo need a day in bed and doing nothing, the last weeks have been a lot of work ;-P

no worries! I hope you've enjoyed some time away from all the renovations of the new place. This week I decided to weigh them again. I haven't weighed them in about 2 weeks and I panicked! I know weight loss is an indicator of some diseases and I didn't realize it had been 2 weeks. Thankfully everyone is doing great!!! The temps are dropping here. Nothing drastic but they have gone from high 90's(F) to mid and low 80's. The nights are around 60's. I never put an air unit in their room this summer bc it is in the shade of several trees and since they only sleep in there at night I would just turn the ceiling fan on to circulate the air. I think they know Fall is coming bc their room is staying cooler all day and their appetites have picked up a bit. They have even gained about an ounce a piece! I think that maybe for the first time in her life, Daisy might actually make it to 2 pounds. I've been watching Bonnie lately bc she is playing fine but she goes to bed after about 30 minutes and the others will continue to play for a while. She's always been a loner but I know she is also approaching 3 years old and I want to keep an eye out for any signs of insulinomas. She's gaining weight and I try to keep food out that I know she'll eat so she can get something whenever she's hungry. Wow, sorry for the long post! Guess I had a lot to say

everyone is still doing great and I've talked the hubby into making me a playpen for the woozles. He's going to make it foldable with a hook so that it can be closed and locked =) It's almost time for our town's Fall Festival and I love taking them to see all the people and smells.
Okay, this weeks menu is:

Wednesday: organs duck and rabbits(.5 liver .5 all others) / gizzards

Pheeewwww! I'm back! What a busy time, I'm so sorry for the delay! First: I will have to reply to your taurine&bison question the moment my pc is back in place and ready to use, I didn't found anything helpful by googling The menus are great, as usual Is Bonnie sleeping a lot more? Do you have shorter days now? Some ferrets tend to sleep more with the first remarkable shorter days, some kind of autumnal lassitude This normally takes 2-3 weeks... She might also be awake and play on her own at nights, if she is more of the independent kind? Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

Yes, she's always been more of a loner. She follows me around but she doesn't like being picked up and held. She tolerates about one kiss and then she wants down. We have just started our transition to Fall. The days are getting shorter and then sun is setting about 30-45 minutes earlier. But I've noticed that she's been up earlier than the others too.
I found beef cheek meat at my local store and I am thinking about getting some. They really surprised me yesterday by eating gizzards like they were the greatest thing ever! =) Sometimes they can be so stubborn and then sometimes they surprise me!

okay, the menu for this week will be an exact copy of last weeks. I'm running low on variations and hopefully they won't mind the repeat since the gizzards are a new addition. I am placing another order from Hare Today this afternoon. I've been really surprised by how well they've done with the different flavors. About the only one they didn't like was the mutton. They love boneless lamb but the whole ground mutton was a bit much I guess since they ran from it =) Silly willies I hope they aren't out of the bison heart this time.

I think they won't mind to repeat the menu I had a good bad sad great week(end), to make it short: I gave Pandora her freedom back, she turned out to be a real European polecat and here those small carnivores are considered a protected species, so after checking if she is able to hunt and take care of herself, we decided to release her from captivity. We put her box outside next to a barn, so she could come back for naps and food I'm sadly happy and happily sad to let her go, I didn't wanted to keep her the whole winter and release her in spring; we have a few very beautiful autumn days now and she'll find food in abundance to prepare herself for winter, I hope I'll find traces of her in the snow, so I'll know she's fine and I did the right thing for her... I promised her to keep the box outside until spring and check regularly Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

awww, I feel your pain. I have raised several flying squirrels from little pink babies all the way to adolescent and I know they are wild and need to be outside in the trees with other squirrels but after you've carried them in your bra all day for weeks taking care of them, it's hard to let them go. I bet she will come back to visit you a bunch. I'm sure you'll see little signs of her here and there this winter

I really hope to find traces of her, I'll wash her bedding form her box this weekend and check if it gets a musky smell by the end of next week.
I still have to tell the lady who brought her to me that I released her and I hope it will be ok for her... (shy)

I'm sure that if she truly wanted what was best for her, then she will understand. And maybe you can just keep her updated if you find any traces of her =) I am preparing the menu for this week but I'll have to post that later. I have to run to the store first and make sure I have everything. Will post it later this evening

I might be a bit busy the next days, we'll build a roof on a part of the outdoor enclosure and by the end of next week I should have my office and my pc back *happy dance* I'm soo looking foreward to have my raw feeding files back and a keyboard to write Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

okay, we finally made it home. Got the hubby's mom situated and I have to say that she is honestly more stubborn than a ferret and I did NOT think that was possible My mom took great care of them and luckily I had received my grinds last week and already had them portioned and frozen so it was really just a thaw and serve kind of deal. I am happy to say that they did have not only bison heart this time but also boneless bison meat! This week will be very chicken oriented bc it was the only whole animal I had in the fridge. I was going to do rabbit as well but since the grinds are so differed I figured one week wouldn't hurt as long as I do better next week and Bonnie's tummy was upset while I was gone bc she had some boneless pork that didn't agree with her. I figured that chicken would not be too rough on her. Menu: Monday: whole ground duck / chicken with bone Tuesday: chicken heart / whole ground pheasant Wednesday: boneless pork loin / chicken organ mix (.50 liver .50 others) Thursday: chicken with bone / whole ground pheasant Friday: boneless bison / rabbit legs Saturday: whole ground goose / chicken with bone Sunday: rabbit (bone in) / chicken wings
