Update on Hunter, he is getting his leg up and twitching like he is trying to get his "scratches" and tonight he got out of the bathtub (I hang a towel over for them to climb in and out if they like) I was putting him in there to avoid the pee pee mess.....he still dribbles. He can tell when he had to go now though he tries to get in his litter box but can only get his front end in and pees on the edge. Much happy progress though! He is still dragging his feet mostly, rests with them under him and moves his legs a lot more

Update on Hunter, he can pee in his litterbox now (poop is still something he seems unable to sense? not sure) not dragging his feet anymore, he supports some of his weight and when on a rug or outside he uses his legs to move forward. He cannot stand yet but it feels great to see him moving his footsies!! He still has 16 doses of his meds left, I have to ask the vet if I wean him off? I heard something once about that not sure though.

You can make a small cart for his hind end - I had a ferret that was paralized. I found a triangle base with 3 swivel wheels on it, and attached to a piece of wood - covered with felt. you will have to show him that he can pull himself around - its easy on hard floors. I wish you luck

Right now, that wouldn't be a good thing for her to do for Hunter. He CAN use his back end, and if he's in a w/c, he'll quit doing so. He's in the healing phase after an injury, so we are all hoping he'll make a close to complete recovery, if not a full one He is doing fantastic, by the way suzie

I had heard about the little carts, if it were to become permanent and it made him comfortable I would consider it, thanks! By observation I can see a steady course of improvement, so for now I am increasing his excercise bit by bit and putting him in places he uses his legs best, like his swimmy tub, or on grass or rugs where he can get traction. I am glad he is peeing in his litter box, now we can spend more time having fun and less time on laundry!

Hunter got in a decent scratch after waking up this morning! The ol legs seem to still be coming back....My sons bought me the add on FN143 for mother's day! Things have been crowded for my fuzzie noodles since I had to separate during Hunter's rehab. Now I will put the other three/four (Boo has his own cage but he visits for naps, I have a soft heart!) in the two top levels when it comes in and have Hunter on the bottom where I can reach easily for cleaning. He is using the litterbox all the time to pee, but has an occasional poop accident. I am thinking of designing a bedding set with a cover and tube or tent for the stairs so he cannot fall off, and a "safety net" wall so he cannot fall off the shelf. I wish to put the shelf back in to help with his mobility. He has been climbing on his scratching post/log in the playroom and I think the incline may strengthen his legs while he is in his house.

That is so fantastic to hear. What great news. What progress. Now, I've put tube on all my stairs (it's just black tubing for the garden, you buy it in huge rolls) and that would make him use the stairs and prevent him from falling off the stairs (unless he's a brat and goes up on the outside of the stairs ) It is also not smooth and allows them to get a firmer step on going up the incline. I use it on all my cage stairways instead of soft staircovers. I had a couple of fuzzes who weren't the most stable little things and they were falling off all the time and I was afraid that they would mistep and break a foot ciao

My concern was whether he can actually feel his feet or not, and a foot going between the bars of the stairs and him injuring his feet. I am not sure he has the control of where to place his feet either, and one leg works better than the other I have noticed. I was thinking along the lines of a "tent" shape with a pocket to slide the stairs into, so that becomes the bottom and if he lists to one side while climbing he will be unable to get stuck anywhere. I wonder about the tubing, if it would work without any stairs? Or must it have support from underneath?
