Have you tried some diaper rash creme? I'm thinking sudocreme but when I had Mayhem I didn't have that product and used a zinc based creme. It's not easy to bath out but that's why it works right, water can't get through. ciao

In Canada, I'd suggest sudocream, but I understand desitin cream is the same thing? Those are safe for ferrets, they don't like the taste, so won't lick at it. Just don't always wash it off completely, only wipe the surface. That way, the skin has a chance to heal underneath it. You'll find it in the baby aisle of most stores.

Update on Hunter, doc said I could crush the pill, so that was a big help because pilling him was stressful (more for me than for him LOL) the bath/hydrotherapy seems to be going well. He is swimming with his front half and has started gripping my fingers underwater with his hind feet. Still no mobility in his hind legs, but he is using more of his torso to move than before, and arching his back while wiggling around. Still trying to keep him from overdoing it, but he sure does seem to feel better judging by his energy level!

Oh, that's excellent news! And if he's able to grip with his back paws, he must still have sensation and movement, so hopefully he'll be able to recover from this!!!

Another update on Hunter, he seems to be gaining a bit of control over his rear legs. Bathtime he tucked his feet under himself and gave a great kick to try to propell himself out of the sink! He really seems to enjoy the bath and swim time. I noticed the litterbox is tipped today and I hope he is trying to use it. I will clean him and after him as long as needed because I love him and someone said to "put him down" today which has me pissed off. Other wise feeling very happy and he loves cuddle time but I can tell he wants to get back to playing! He tucks his feet under his body more now also. I think he is improving!

What a cruel remark My Mayhem fought for every inch that he got and it sounds like Hunter is too. I would have never taken that away from him. That's wonderful news. Great progress ciao

Best wishes & prayers for little Hunter; he deserves a fighting chance, and shows greater dignity with his spunk than the ignoramus who made that comment.

don't listen to others too much. you know if it is time to let your pet go. you know your pets better than anyone else and if you see him fighting then keep on going! sounds like he's doing better. i had a ferret magazine that had an article on how to do physical therapy for your ferret. i a can't find it but when i do i will post it here. it had pictures and everything. lol. some of the things in there did seem to help one of mine. i did the physical therapy with him every day. it helped his hind leg weakness. fyi, here is an article on water therapy for ferrets. www.smallanimalchannel.com/ferrets-magazine/home-with-bob/water-therapy.aspx

Thanks for all the positive and uplifting advise:) He has his ups and downs and I just want him to be happy and comfy. I made him his own dig box and am setting up a playpen I have for after his bath, so he can have excercise with easier clean up if he has an accident. I have hopes that he will get his legs back
