She came to us eating a diet of mostly pinkey's and kitten chow. She knows how to eat them, but she always did it alone. She got half of it down, and then left them alone for a while. I ended up throwing one and a half away. She also hasn't had a pinkey since her upper right canine broke in half from jumping off the top of the FN cage last fall. (Got her in Aug and her tooth was broken after we switched her to actual ferret kibble. These are the first pinkies she has seen since last Aug(2012)) She also doesn't like when I watch, I think she is intimidated by my watching, like maybe she is doing something wrong? I don't know. She used to eat them when offered and I walked away, but she won't eat it if I watch. I kind of want to seclude her and offer her a small, fully grown mouse and see what she does with it. That would be interesting.

Have you tried giving her a feeding den? Just put the mouse in there for her, that way she has some privacy. You can put her kibble in there as well. Also she'll be used to using it if you ever make the switch to raw

I hadn't thought of that. I will have to do that tonight when I get home. I have three pinkies left, I'll give it a shot! Thanks Sherry!
Edit: Turns out I had 9 pinkies left, not 3...oops!

Cornish Game Hen leg quarter - River wanted me to hold it for her. In the bowl in the background you can see some chicken liver, and the drippy juices from it that she was drinking up. The cage is stained pretty badly, I need to replace the pans. It's that ugly after I scrubbed it like five times! So please ignore it.

I'd like to share photos of my latest group member: Shana arrived end of august in my group, she is 6 years old and was fed 1 kind of kitten kibble for her whole life... She prefered starting raw with tiny pieces of meat instead of soup, soup was too liquid, she hated the consistency on her mouth, I insisted she had to eat 2x day a tiny little piece of meat (size of a pea), first she took it like a bitter pill, after a few days she was already waiting for her "pills" and ate more and more, I started to give her chunks and she gave her best to eat them, she often had to pause, her jaws wasn't strong enough, it was so cute seeing her sleep with her piece of meat next to her Now, two months later, she eats almost everything, here with chicken chunks (meat&bone): and her first rabbit tongue:

She still has very thin hair, so I'm waiting for her coat to change, if this won't happen soon, it's time for the vet, could be adrenal

If it hasn't changed in the next couple of months it is certainly possible.

Thanks to help from VioletDelusions, my babies are on the 1/2 Soup mixed with 1/2 Grinds stage of their switch. They seem pretty darn happy and all of them, even my early Adrenal guy, have a hint of grape tail. Top Left = Trigger Top Right = Rufus Bottom Left = Candy Bottom Right = Skeeter

This was before Pippin decided he needed privacy to eat and started hiding his food in his tent in the upper floor of his cage. I started putting the dish in the tent, and now the first thing he does when I feed him is take the food out of the dish and put it in a pile on the floor of the tent. I think it's time to make a food den of something easier to clean. Tomorrow he gets his first furry mice (he's eaten pinkies without any problem).
