abbeytheferret6 Yep. I can buy packaged Chicken Backs from the local grocery store I get our meat, it's SO CHEAP! I will note that they usually only have the upper part of ribs that connect to the spine, and don't include the lower half that would be across the chest. All I do with it then is to cut it into some chunks (large enough that they have to chew on it and not inhale the smaller bone bits), I have smashed the larger bones a little sometimes before just to be able to get the meat scissor through, but the cleaver doesn't really have any issues cutting through by itself. And then I just give it to the ferrets. I haven't yet had any issues with it. But I do make sure the smaller rib bones are attached to a piece of meat big enough that they have to work on it and not just swallow it whole. This is what I get, sorry it's not the best photo. I can take a proper one when I buy some again.

@sherry They did great with it actually! I got a video that's just Orion munching on the nose, they like to remove the head and then stranging go inside and eat it from the inside out. I just let them play really hard before feeding but they were also used to mice before hand so maybe that helped. They played tug of war for a bit but they ate it over the 48 hours. They took to a rat also last week.

i.imgur.com/K1KnCBS.jpg(Hopefully this link for picture works) this is my 2 month old Jonbenét trying her first taste of raw food. It was a chicken wing she devoured it! I’m happy I found this forum while she is young and it’s eaier for her to learn that this is food!
