Sorry I haven't been around. Work is crazy (end of the school year here), my family is dealing with a new birth (my niece) and another family member has been wrongful imprisoned in another country: www.thespec.com/news-story/3255411-from-wedding-bells-to-dominican-jail-nightmare/Anyhow, onto better things. Chicken wings have plenty of fat, necks not so much. So you might want to reduce the neck content a bit and increase the wings. It turns out when I showed your menu to Sherry and Heather they didn't realize that they should have cut the numbers I gave them in half because you were feeding "meals" twice a day. Everything is fine with your menu. Just waiting on Heather to graduate you and your girls!! Socks has lost a bit more weight and is her normal peppy fiery summer mood, Wilma is hot and lazy with her reversed seasons. So far no allergic reaction since Monday so that is going well. She just looks awful where they shaved her neck to take the biopsies. BTW, did you ever get a new FB account?

Also, something else to keep in mind. As they pass the 1 year mark their appetites are probably going to decrease some.

oh wow... lots happening on your end! congrats on the birth of your niece and i'm sorry to hear about your family member so... on to the chicken bits... should i cut the neck amount in half and add the other half to the wings? or just leave it as is? i gave them mince and they love it! i'm glad your girls are doing well i'm sure a shaved ferret would look hilarious yes i have a new facebook account, shall i add you on it? thanks for warning me about the one year part, i would have panicked! Panda seems to have gotten her winter coat finally! she has suddenly become very fluffy eating has picked up a teensy bit in them both and they are loving the larger chunks the bones dont stand a chance and i'm not even smashing them very much any more! but sadly they also dont realise their jaws are stronger me thinks, as there is more timeouts from biting happening. either that or they're being naughty mostly panda so it wouldn't surprise me nothing else to report aside from the fact that their menu likely needs to be adjusted as 8oz per day is too ambitious they barely eat 6oz per day but i will keep it at 8oz to the end of the batch just in case see ya round!

I'd maybe do 20 oz wings and 12 oz necks. Also make sure you are using a fatty mince (not sure how it is in Oz but here we have extra lean, lean, medium and regular). I'd lean towards the medium or regular.

She's tried to find other protein sources. Unfortunately she has limited selection where she lives and on her budget. Okami, have you tried them with any fish? Small freshwater fish are usually fine. I give my girls freshwater smelt about once a month and they don't seem to mind it.

Okami, I just spoke with someone from New South Wales on FB and she said to check Coles for ground Kangaroo (should be about $8) and Wollies supposedly regularly carries turkey.

Congratulations (dance) You've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone, now. You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret (as I'm sure you are more than aware of) and throughout each their lives. I would also like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create and adjust your little ones diets, you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Despite graduating, please continue to search out other protein sources to expand and improve your little ones diet. The more protein sources you can get the better your little ones nutritional needs will be better met . Good luck, (wave)in a few days either Sherry or I will lock down this thread. If you wish to update your menu do so now as it will be viewed and can be used by yourself and many others at any time as a reference tool. Once it gets locked down you will not be able to post or change it. Your mentor will be in to congratulate you shortly . Congratulations again (wave) ciao

Congratulations Okami!! (dance) It wasn't too rough of a switch for your girls but I'm glad I could answer your questions as well as solidifying your knowledge and confidence that you are doing the best thing for your ferrets. Do not hesitate to contact me in the future or post on the forum if you ever have any questions.
