On the review list I got the FN from some people said that the shelf can be a danger because the ferts leg or foot can get caught? Im not actually sure where they are talking about. Did anyone have this problem. One person says the ferts leg broke! Im thinking its the part where the ledge comes off (the part where you can hang stuff) it must come loose? I wonder if I binder clip this will it help?

Using shelf covers usually remedies any risk involved with the FN. Midwest also came out with new shelves that are much safer

this is a picture of my lower half's shelf, and the gap between it and the side panel. It might be hard to see what's going on here, but the vertical-ish bar is actually the side panel, so there's about a half inch gap. my littlest kit is pretty clumsy and fell off a ramp and sort of fell into that crack, so I've since stuffed a blanket in there to prevent it from happening again.

Also, right at the front, you've got a tiny gap Between the plastic flat cover, and the front bar of the shelf. A few have gotten a toe/claw caught in that and dangled. Of course they panic, and have also broken a leg, and I believe a couple died because the owners were at work when it happened I just cover it with duct tape, then use a shelf cover over that. I don't know if you can see it in this pic, but the thin sliver stripe at the front is where I've taped it, and then popped the plastic insert back in again:

;D I love the duct tape idea! I grew up in the south and it reminds me of a lot of jokes about duct tape

Well I'm at work now but when I get home I'm checking that. I have fleece over them with binder clips and didn't notice the gap but will make sure its not going to be harming any furballs legs! Thanks all!
