So, I want to start giving my guys whole quails maybe 2-3 times a week, but I was wondering how does that factor in to balancing out their organ and heart meals? Does it take those meals place as it is whole quail?

Will that be 2-3 meals, or 4-6 meals(entire day replacement)?

Umm good question lol ideally I guess I would like to do quail 2-3 Days a week so 4-6 meals.... Also, how much quail per ferret? Like if I get week olds to start... And then work them to the bigger size... ~*Opal Raven and the Business of Flower, Amalia & Davinger *~

Okay, if 6-7 meals are whole prey, cut the organ serving in half. As for how much- it's going to depend in the individual ferret.

Have they eaten whole prey before? Mine were used to mice and I bought adult quails, guinea pigs and rabbits for them, they dug right in. 4 adult ferrets would eat a whole large quail in a half day, now I have 2 older ferrets and they eat about half a large quail per day.

I fed them a baby quail once because Otterwoman let me take one to try and they are it. Quail and other birds are the only thing I am comfortable doing whole prey with...

Ok and so how many meals to cut the organ entirely? All their meals would have to be whole prey? But then they wouldnt have a variety....

If they are completely whole prey fed, then yes

But if all I feed them is whole prey birds that is not enough variety then... Or does a variety of types of birds count as differant proteins?

Turkey, quail, and chicken are 3 different proteins, just as an example. So different species would be fine.

Ok, I wasn't sure if that counted as differant proteins since its all poultry/white meat. . Maybe my babies will become whole prey eaters than.... Might give it a try ~*Opal Raven and the Business of Flower, Amalia & Davinger *~

Mice are an excellent whole prey protein as well, and usually easy to obtain.

I thought about doing mice, but I do rescue small animals and will sometimes have hamsters, rats, and even mice in my room so thought that that might not be such a great idea. I do have chickens as pets but what's the likely hood that the Ferrets are going to first escape the room, then the house, and then go across the yard, swim across the creek or cross the bridge, and go hunt some chickens? Lol and not get eaten by the hawk or the turkeys in the process!!! hahahaha hmmm yeah ~*Opal Raven and the Business of Flower, Amalia & Davinger *~
