So, Noah and I took a trip to the local petco and picked up some commercial raw. I picked up natures variety lam and rabbit frozen patties as well as some Vital chicken, beef, salmon and egg recipe. I'm going to try and mix it in with the canned food he's been eating. He's almost completely off kibble now between the freeze dried raw and the wysong aus jus canned (which he now readily eats). I tried to go to the local butcher for some meats, organs and even some bones but they were closed, looked like for good.

I mixed the Vital in with his canned wysong turkey today. I ran out of the duck, which he loved. He didn't want to eat it at first but did end up eating a spoonful. We shall try again tonight.

Hey- that's actually a pretty major first step!!! And a fantastic one Let us know how tonight's meal goes If he does well just keep steadily increasing the ratio of raw to canned til it's all raw.

How do you serve the commercial ground raw? I found it is a lot more palatable to most of my ferrets when I mash it up wit ha fork and mix in some hot water to make a soup or thick stew. The smell really gets their little noses working and they sit there waiting for the dish every morning/night to be brought to them.

I did add some hot water and mashed it so have a consistency more like canned. Unfortunately, I have come down with a stomach bug so we haven't had a chance to try the raw again.
