I am trying to find a decent kibble to free feed to my ferrets that I can pick up locally. I have added blue ridge raw and primal feline raw to one of my ferrets diet and I will be working them all over slowly. Id like to keep a kibble available at all times though so I know they are eating enough plus my one has insulinoma.
The foods I found at co/op today were: pure vita Before Grain Blue Buffalo
At Tractor Supply: 4health
I was feeding Zupreem but cannot afford the shipping and it anymore. The few bags I have found in the pet stores are more expensive then buying it online. Just wondering if I can go with an alternative that is just as good or better.

Here are a couple links to food lists. They compare which foods are better than others www.ferretuniverse.com/care/food.aspHere is a much more comprehensive one: moredooks.herobo.com/search.php?chart=ferretI know that Wysong Epigen 90 is basically the best food out there if you have to feed kibble. Evo ferret food comes in second, according to the lists. I am not sure about your foods, but it might be worth it to check out

Blue Buffalo is an excellent product IF they have the wilderness line available.

Thanks for the replies.
Im really curious into anyone who has used the Before Grain? Ive done some searching and it seems to have low carbs in it. Now my only real concern is the how much vegetable % is in it? Any easy way to tell? It is now the 96% not the 100%.

the more dooks chart is a good guideline and you can find the rating of any food by following their instructions. my personal kibble mix is CORE cat and EVO turkey/chicken dog. my kids are doing very well on this

The rescue mixes wysong ferret epigen 90, Wellnes core original cat, orijen poultry 80/20 cat, and zupreem grain free. All four are grain free foods. Good kibble runs about$5/#

i despise kibble with every fiber of my being. but if i had no choice and had to feed kibble, the only brands i would use is Wysong Ferret Epigen 90 or Orijen cat grain free.

It's a decent food and costs her about $2.00 a lb. I personally feed my ferret a mix of Epigen 90 and evo although he's ne getting Wysongs archetypal 1 freeze dried, Wysongs aus jus canned variety and a small amount of Epigen 90.

Moredooks isn't loading for me so I can't check there for the BG rating, but I would probably skip it personally. 3rd ingredient is potatoes, only 18% fat and 36% protein. It's not a terrible kibble, but there are several better options that are also a lot easier to find.

I bought some blue buffalo wilderness chicken for my ferrets kibble soups. I also found Chicken Soup for Kittens Lovers Soul food. It was a lot cheaper then I thought it would be. It makes me wonder if its still as good as some of the food charts rate it - maybe the charts are outdated? I just want to make sure its still a decent kibble to feed them.
