I'm glad you found this thread. It was interesting. Little Serenity is definitely a drama queen. How funny! None of mine like EVO, but they do like olive oil. And any other oil. Just not the Extra Virgin. I think its a little stronger and has more of an olive taste.

OMG that was TOO funny NOW you know what often happens during a diet switch- you just had an example If you keep up with it she WILL get a taste for it. If you like, try cutting it half and half with a fish oil of some sort

They definitely WILL protest a brand change. Normally when I buy EVOO, it's whatever is on sale. One day a better quality one had a fantastic sale, so bought it. Ferrets did well, loved it. However, when it ran out and I got a different brand, little brats wouldn't touch it! Is that alright to purchase evoo from a dollar store? It says 100% olive oil on it, and its Elio Gusto?

Olive oil should be greenish in colour, not in a clear bottle, and have an expiry date on it.

These are what we have on hand atm. The olive oil says it should have a best before date, but I cannot find one, its also not very green more of a canola oil color so I guess that's out? (we've used it for a while and they love it, should I be worried?) The coconut oil is new and my Ferrets aren't a fan yet. I've also used a more expensive EVOO that said it had the aroma of tomato leaves and that worried me so I stopped using it. A lot of stuff at the dollarama here you can find at other stores, but would there be anything in either of those evoos that would have harmed my babies?

By buying "cheaper" olive oils, will it affect the ferrets body? They love the one that I have, but I see that some people use "light" olive oil and others. If my cheaper olive oil is enjoyed by my ferrets, is it safe to use?

I'd think cheap oils are less likely to be as pure as they claim. The authenticity of supposed 100% olive oil was pretty hard for consumers to confirm the last time I looked into it.

I'm assuming that even if it is cut with another oil and not pure it isn't going to harm the ferrets?

The only issues are you would be getting ripped off big time, paying for an oil that is supposedly extra virgin olive oil and is actually maybe 20%. GMO's can come into play with canola, etc but that is a different story entirely depending on your personal POV. Also the main reason for including extra virgin olive oil is the very strong anecdotal evidence that it helps to prevent heliobactor(ulcers) from developing
