Titan has been litter trained for a while now. But all of a sudden he's been deciding to throw his litter out of the box and all over the place. It's like he's doing it in cycles. h*ll do really good and never mess with his litter box and go in it great, then for a week or so h*ll just throw litter all over the place. Last time he did this he also decided not to use the litter box. He hasn't had an accident yet, but I'm sure he will. Does anyone know why he's doing this? and how can I stop it?..I've given up on trying to clean it up lol.

Sounds like he's having a tantrum to me ;D Mine will do this when they've decided it's time to come out of the cage, and I can't right then. Or they'll do it if they think they've gone back in before they were ready. Or if they are simply ticked at me over something

could he maybe be mistaking it for a dig box?

Not likely- he sounds either upset, or bored. If he thought it was a dig box, he'd likely snorkel in it a fair bit, too, instead of just tossing it everywhere ;D

Adding water to the mix sounds like Fun-Go who feels that everything works much better when water is added I just finished putting them all to bed and he was busy adding a whole queen sized sheet to his water bowl I guess it's better than him standing on his head in the water bowl and flinging it all over the cage and floor...either way no one gets to drink the stuff ciao

That is just too funny Heather, what a little brat ;D. For the longest time I had to put the water dish hooked in a plastic container,at least it would contain most of the water. The boys didn't appreciate sliding in the water. If Jayla gets a time out,she will rattle her cage door and give me dirty looks. If she's really p o'd she just goes for it,then stops, looks at me and if I don't respond goes right back at it. Needless to say I have a nice big ole mess to clean. I'm happy the time outs are ALMOST a thing of the past.

Vincent's one of my worst for that He'll start digging and flinging, stop, come to the door of the cage to see if I was watching, go back dig and fling again, come back to the door, etc., til he realizes no one is even looking at him, then he'll go off and flat ferret with a huge sigh at such an unjust life ;D

they are sooooo bad aren't they? i swear they are like children. ferret tantrums are the worse. my ferret tears up his newspaper (with urine and poop on it) and then he looks up at me with this defiant glare. i really think he knows that when he tears up the paper it will get a reaction out of me.

The worst fuzz I had was Attila. He would get upset about being put to bed and he would get under the litter box. Oh, the litter box was indeed tied down, so he couldn't just flip it, you couldn't tie it any tighter but there was enough give to let him push it out just a bit. He would push it out and then, somehow, slide underneath. Attila was a big boy, just under 5 lbs. He would lay on his back, with his feet pushed up against the bottom of the litter box and kick it. So, he would lay, kicking this litter box, a large cat litter box too, until all the litter, poops, everything was everywhere, then he would lay kicking the litter box and just making a noise. Eventually, Lady "B" would move in and then they would scream at each other while Attila kicked the litter box....and some idiot told me ferrets were quiet ciao
