I'm not thinking out buying new kits just yet but when i do plan on adding to the group i want to buy an intact hob or jill for a better chance at beating adrenal. i would love to know if anyone breeds in british Columbia, canada, or knows of anyone who does? or even a province/state or two away thanks!

There is a breeder in BC though, dunno how reputable they are or what their practises are like, but they seemed to care about their ferrets. I was going to get a kit from them before I decided I wasn't ready.
You will have to do some convincing though, since they told me at first they didn't want to offend me, but that they only sell kits to friends & family, and people that they refer to them. They only have 1-2 litters a year, but usually only one 1, so you'll have to wait awhile to get a kit even if they ok you.
Plus, they require the kits to be microchipped, and they want to do a home visit prior to adopting out. (This was mostly because they had no idea who I was, and wanted to meet Rolo to see how well cared for he was.)
They also don't really let you "dibs" whichever kit you want. They wanted to ensure a good fit, so they said they'd rather set up a play group type deal with a few of the kits and pick out which one worked out best, and then offer a 2-week grace period to make sure everything works out between your current ferts and their kits.
This breeder wanted the kits spayed/neutered, and had the kits done at 5months, and then you get them. (So you don't get to have the crazy baby stage - dunno how important that is to you.)
However, if you were to explain the use of deslorelin and get a vet to back you up on it they may be willing to let you chemically alter. It's a discussion you'll have to have with them if they even allow you to have one of their kits.
They supposedly breed "true masked ferrets" whatever that is - I'm assuming sable, and while they do keep a record of why/when their ferrets die I have no idea on the health of their lines, so that's something else to discuss if you go with them.
However, I cannot for the life of me find where I put their email, so I'll look again later, and when I find it I'll post it.

Oh wow! I found it!
BC Ferret Breeder: rocketrobert1@gmail.com
So yeah, I didn't go too far into discussion with them, simply because the timing was terrible for getting another ferret (Would have been this spring/summer breeding season, but I was so broke this past year I couldn't even come home for christmas so getting another fert was out of the question.)

yeah that's what im wondering lol i have serious issues finding them my cousin is a vet and has a jill and hob from germany or something but she jabs her jill herself at work when she comes into season she tried breeding but couldnt handle seeing her baby, Rosaline, being dragged around the hutch by Rosco... but she knows everything about ferts under the sun... if only she didnt live in Saskatchewan -.- she'd be my vet lol. maybe she'll get back into breeding one day

Hi if you cousin constantly jill jabs the jill when she comes into season she may find if she ever did try to breed from her it would be extremely hard for her to conceive as constant use of the jill jab vaccine renders the jills infertile hope this helps take care bye for now Bev

How did you find him to begin with? Any idea where in BC he's at? I'm not 100% sure because I stopped bombarding him with questions when I realized I wasn't ready for a second fert. I actually found him by chance on Cragislist - He wasn't advertising though. Basically what happened, was there was someone trying to get rid of their ferrets who were sick/obviously not cared for well and just seemed so heartless, anyway he responded to them berating them for their total lack of compassion and in one sentence he mentioned "as a breeder" this is my opinion etc. etc. Because this was a "re" posting I emailed him back through craigslist and he responded to me. He seemed wary at first, probably because I saw it off craigslist, but seemed more inclined to sell a kit to me after we exchanged a few emails. As for location, I'm just going to go with "somewhere in the lower mainland" as he was obviously in going through the same area postings on craigslist.

I'm from B.C. and have received a ferret from Nancy (nanjferret). Took a drive down for a day trip and it was well worth the trip. I couldn't be happier with my strong little girl.

Yes and no. what I do is keep emails flagged for people wanting to be notified of an upcoming litter then go from there and will take deposits when the litter is expected. I am hoping to repeat the "Finn" litter this spring as the jill is getting older and it was a wonderful cross. I only do one or two litters a year usually. This last year I had to hold back due to family issues. Of course there is the get to knowing a potential buyer before hand to qualify for a kit but members here pretty much are already in as you would not be here on this forum if you did not want the best for your fuzzies. There is a care contract as well and a lifetime bring back policy.
