A dental X Ray certainly wouldn't hurt. It does indeed sound like his teeth might be a factor here... As for the food, there comes a point where what they are eating isn't nearly as important as whether or not they are eating something. Right now feed him what he will eat, there is always time to get him back on board with the switch when he's feeling better. *hugs* Keep your spirits up!

Hey, sorry. Goomba's an soggy kibble with a little bit of pork and baby food and water. He ate yesterday without my help, which was really good to see. Unfortunately he has to be in the upper part Of the fn while I'm at school because the others (aka Ellie) will eat all his food before he gets a chance to get hungry again. He sleeps all the time now though, so he probably doesn't notice that much. the other two are eating well, I still haven't gotten a chane to pulverize the wings, all my teachers have piled on the work before the break and it's difficult just making sure the ferrets get food and that goomba actually eats it. He's almost out of the sucralfate and metadiozine

As long as they are getting calcium supplement there's not a huge rush on the bones. I'm sure you're coming up on finals season so I understand entirely!

Goomba is up to 2lbs 10oz. He's still not looking well, though. He just sleeps all day. The other two are doing ok, Pippin is still bloated though. Everyone is eating fine, though. This weekend I can get back into the switch with bone crushing and the likes.

Okay just keep me posted in the meanwhile and let me know. Tomorrow and Fri will probably be pretty busy for me anyways as I work closing shift and I think I have to go tutor afterwards. :/ Right now feed Goomba whatever he will eat. He's gaining weight but something is still not right it sounds like...your appointment is this Friday?

Yes it's tomorrow morning. His back legs seem to be trembling again but not anything as bad as they had earlier this year, and he's walking normally.

Goomba went to the vet today and she agreed to give him a second round of medicine. His calcium levels have gone up each time we get his blood tested, but they're still low so she also gave me an oral calcium supplement, too. He had to be sedated and she got a chance to inspect his teeth, poke around his mouth, etc. She said the teeth looked and felt fine but she thought there might have been an ulcer in the back of his throat. If after the second round of medicine he still won't chew on food we might do an x-ray of his teeth. She's going to do some research on the melatonin implant for Pippin and we're going to do blood work on him in about a week or so. She ordered more oxbow, but couldn't find it. She's gong to give me a call when she does so we can get some weight back on Goomba.

Hey First of all I want to apologize...I feel like my attitude has kind of gone wah wah wah over the weeks. This year has been really hectic, I've never dealt with my ferrets being so sick, and I've never seen one look so sad and miserable. It's just taken a lot out of me over the weeks, and Daniel can't give Goomba the medicine because it really upsets him to have to scruff Goomba and watch him foam at the mouth/writhe/gag at the medicine. And he hasn't been here to help like normal because school is getting tough as finals approach and his university is about 1 1/2 hours away (he lives in the dorms there). Anyway, so much for Spring Break. I still haven't gone to the markets nor have I even gotten to crush those wings that have now been moved to the freezer. The air is not working properly...yesterday it got up to 86 indoors and I had to put them in a carrier, wrap it with sheer cloth (mosquitoes here are h*ll), put ice bottles in socks and take them outside since by then it was cooler outside. Anyway, long story short it was basically a working day trying to get that sorted out, which I think it is. I got it back down to 74 overnight, and the midday heat has yet to come... Goomba is still eating kibble. I have to go get more hearts and liver soon, so I am determined to make a day out of it and visit at least one market and make a crap ton of food. I'm going to start trying to mix soup back in with Goomba's food...back to square one. I really hope he'll eat it. Pippin and Ellie try to sneak into his food, so feeding is separated in the FN. Ellie and Pippin are also eating cartilage now, when I cut up the thighs it kind of just slips off the top of the bone and they don't have a problem with it. They don't seem to be eating the pork anymore...I'm not really sure why. Maybe it's going bad or something? It's in the freezer, but every batch is the same, they never eat but one or two little pieces of pork and a few pieces of beef don't get eaten, but the chicken is always gone. Pippin and Goomba are both at 2 lbs 9 oz and Ellie is 2lbs even. ALSO!! I don't know what this means, but when I woke up Goomba to give him the sucralfate this morning, he had a big sleepy yawn. I was tempted to stick the syringe in his mouth as he closed it, but instead I leaned in and sniffed. His breath didn't smell like anything. No stink, nothing. This is literally the very first time he hasn't had bad breath. And with good news, there is always something bad...Pippin's poops have gotten smaller, but he's still eating. I'm guessing it's more likely he has a floating blockage.

Give him pumpkin. What makes you think he has a blockage? It could be his spleen acting up..? Maybe that's putting pressure on his intestines and making digestion difficult.... How much is he eating? Goomba sounds like he's starting to feel a lot better! *phew!* Now back to the basics! Sneak the raw soup in a liiitle bit at a time and get him back on raw soupies. You know the drill, we're just doing the same thing again. Let me know when you can do the bones. I'd like to get them on them soonish, but as long as you are supplementing with calcium it's not a *huge* rush. That being said, it's much healthier if they're actually eating bone instead of just supplement (and better for their teeth!). I know you've got to be super busy - it's coming up on finals time right? Finals are a priortiy IMO. That being said, you don't want to out off diet stuff too much either. Let me know what you can do - you know what your "free" time is like and what your limits are. *hugs* You are doing AMAZINGLY considering all of the health problems you've been dealing with in your crew and school. Don't let it stress you out too much. Be sure to tke time for yourself in all this! We may be moving slow in the switch, but don't forget to stop and see how far you have come! If the chicken is a big hit, I'd try turkey next. Very similar, my boys enjoy it. Duck is a big favorite here too, I get it at the Asian market. Pork and beef tend to be stronger in flavor (esp beef) so it may take some extra time for them to get used to it. Keep in mind too that ultimately the idea is they'd get a meal of chicke one day, and pork the next, so they can't just pick around the parts they like less. If you can, start trying that now. See if that helps.

Finals are in two weeks and I have a lot of homework over the break. I did homework all day yesterday and I'm going to do it all day today and tomorrow if it takes that long. My goal is to be totally done with it by the weekend so I can crush up the wings and at least go to the asian market. There is one kind of on the way to school and I have to go there and print off a bunch of stuff before Monday, so the day I go will be a good time to check it out. Regarding Pippin, I caught him eating this: after I found it in his poop and tore everything apart. It's a pencil grip. I pushed pumpkin through and he was making orange poops. However, his poops are still mostly black and sticky, and sometimes they're skinny or just little drops. That makes me think maybe it's a floating blockage...could it be? Sometimes his poops are regular size and then other times they aren't at all. I'll pick up the turkey asap, thanks for being patient. I'll try and get all of this homework done today.

Pippin!!!! Ugh! I would keep pushing pumpkin and Vaseline for a little while. It does indeed sound like he has a floating blockage the little turd. *shakes head* Your critters are sure trying to make your life difficult!
