Yes she is, she also told me if needed I can up it slowly. I only upped it by half to see if there was any improvement. He needs to go back in soon anyhow for another checkup since the doc told me to bring him in to see where he is at with the new food. As for the meter, it is off by a few points. Usually bout 3 or 4. Since I always bring it with me to see what the difference is and see if it's is around the same. I'm going to make an appt for Wednesday, since I have to go to the dentist on Tues. I know I won't be up to do anything after that appt. When I take him in, I'll ask about the diazoxide.

Ok, sounds good. I just want to make sure his BG is as stable as possible. The more often he crashes, the greater the risk his of getting brain damage :S
Just keep up what your doing, and let me know how the vet goes. I'm not sure if his dosage is considered low or high, but when the proper dose is achieved, his BG should become stable and be higher consistently.

He has an appointment today at 5 pm. When I get back I'll give an update and we'll go from there. Today I made thicker soup for him and he was eating it up. So far I haven't seen him eat and kibble. Weezy is eating the soup all on her own. She's eating a good portion of it. So that's a plus for her. I have to add in some more Wysong in their kibble since I think she has been picking it out of the bowl.

He had crashed again today right before the vet visit. Left a little early to get him in. He came out of it when we pulled into the parking lot. He did lose some weight., only a few ounces. Since he is on a high dosage of the pred, there was still no improvement. And Dr. Collen had told me the same thing, if you keep upping it, and nothing is improving, then most likely it isn't going to help. So she had prescribed him the diazoxide. .2 cc 2x daily. New problem has come up, many pharmacies really don't carry it nor have they heard of it. I called them all and some places do carry and can order. I didn't realize how expensive it is. The Pharmacist had broken it down for me. The vet gave me about a 5 month dose. And I have one more place to call to get an estimate price, and go with the cheapest place. Which I'll call them tomorrow since they are closed right now. I'll be able to place an order for the meds until after May 4th since that's my next payday.
Good news is I caught Shock eating some kibble today. I walked into my room to get the phone and he was in the cage eating. He must eat kibble when I'm not around.

I'm glad Weezy is eating good, and that you caught Shock kibble munching! He might just be doing it while your gone. I had no idea diaoxide was such an expensive med. I hope you can find it for a decent price. You're doing wonderful - I know how difficult it is to have a sick baby

I had called all the places in my area and the cheapest here is Kmart @ 235.00. So I had asked for help in a Facebook group called Ferret Owners and a lady had given me a link to a pharmacy that she and many other use. It's based in Arizona. I called them and they wouldn't give me a price over the phone with out contacting the vet first. So just waiting for the pharmacy to get back to me since they have to get all the info from the vet and go from there. I'm doing the best I can since I'm not ready to lose another ferret. I already lost one and no vet was able to figure out what was wrong with him. The only thing that was diagnosed was he had hip dysplasia and deformed neck bones. He was put to sleep on Nov 29 last year. I waited till the holiday was over so he was able to spend one last holiday with us. He was so skinny, he looked like a walking skeleton no matter how much food he was fed. I had to syringe feed him food and water.
I got the med ordered and for now he is getting the 20 ml and it cost me $55.55. The next time around I can order more if needed.

I got in touch with one of my cousins and he hunts wild game. I asked what he does with the organ me and if he's willing to get it clean for me and I'll pay him for it. So I want top through in some fresh meat as a variety. We'll see how this medication is doing since last night was his first dose. So far so good with the eating everyone seems content so far. Will get a weight on them tonight since I never got around to the last one

That's great! I'm glad he's eating well As far as organ meats go, that would be a great resource. Unfortunately, organ only makes up about 10% of the diet. That is about 2 oz a liver a week + 2 oz of all other organs. Heart meat should be fed 1-2 time a week as an entire meal. So just make sure not to overfeed organs because it will result in very stinky black tarry stools.

Those are pretty good weights! Are they in summer mode yet, or do they have winter flub still?
How is Shock doing with the new meds?

They are ready for summer, Weezy just got done shedding her winter fur same with Shock.
I haven't seen any difference nor improvement. I believe that Shock has stopped eating. He has been crashing daily for the last 5 days. Since I'm off today and tomorrow he getting fed every couple of hours to see if her improves. He is extremely stubborn so I'm stuck.

Will he eat anything on his own? How often are you home normally to hand feed him meals?
Just a thought - could he have ulcers? That would make him not want to eat. Ulcers are common on pred.

He isn't grinding his teeth, but that thought has come across. I caught him up and walking around, and the bowl was clean so I assume he was eating it. I got him to take a test and it's at 34. I put him near the soup dish and he was licking it so I'm going to fill it up and get him to eat more.

He's still having his up and downs. But he was up more yesterday with walking around. Not so much today since it hot and both of them are laying in front of the fan. Weezy isn't active today either because of the weather.
