PLEASE SHARE, FERRETS NEEDING HOMES ASAP:
Susan M. Baker
CAN ANYONE HELP? I am posting an email from a young woman who needs to rehome her three ferrets. Please read her story and contact her if you can help. I am posting pics in a few....From Alicia:
I'll try to keep this short, as even writing it, I have tears in my eyes at the thought of having to do this this way.
Hi, my name is Alicia. I've been a resident of Houston for three years. I own three adorable furbies, of which I have had for five, four, and three years. A lot of bad circumstances have hit me in the years I've been in Houston and it's been a struggle to make it here on my own. No family, no friends. Most recently I got hit with my school, of which I had moved to Houston to attend, being shut down. Not long after that things started to worsen financially for me.
All throughout I've been doing the best that I could to keep my babies happy, they always ate before I did if it came down to it and they always went to the doctor before I did. But recently I finally had to come to the realization that I can no longer make it here on my own anymore. I've been given an offer to move to Nevada in my mother's home and as long as I'm in school, one that won't close on me, I can stay rent free.
The only problem is I can't take all of my babies with me. There is no room for their cages and she really doesn't want them there. This is where I had to decide what to do, what is in the best interest for my babies and for me, and hopefully this is where a good ferret samaritan will come into play. I'm going to need to find a home for all of them before my move in November. I'm going to post some pictures and a description of each of my babies below and hopefully someone out there has room in their heart for one or two more furkids.
The first pictures are of Loki and Charlie, my 5 and 4 1/2 year old DEW's. Loki is small and fiesty. He's never been over 2lbs but you'd never know it by his demeanor, he's the king of this castle. He will chase cats, dogs, squeaky toys, YOU, anything that will run from him. He's never bitten any person, in fact, he loves to give kisses on the cheek. He was recently diagnosed with Insulinoma which requires a dosage twice a day for the rest of his life, but it hasn't slowed him down.
Charlie is 6 months younger than Loki but about 2 lbs heavier. He's a big boy, but he's a sweetheart. He loves to be scratched and petted and will sometimes nip you if you stop before he's ready! He doesn't bite hard, of course. He's been with Loki for most of his life so I'd really like to keep them together. In fact, I couldn't find any recent pictures of them separate. While Loki doesn't get along with other animals as much, Charlie would be indifferent to your cat or dog. He's always on the hunt for food or a good place to nap. He also loves to have his belly tickled.
River is my little silver girl, she's three, and was diagnosed with Adrenal Disease earlier this year, but I've never seen her skip a beat. She doesn't get housed with my boys because they tend to pick on her so she has a playpen all her own. She's very active, LOVES to play with the cats(much to the cats chagrin sometimes) and she is very good about using the litter pan and responding to her name when called. She sometimes gets nervous around people but it doesn't take long for her to warm up to you and climb all over you. She's a very, very happy ferret. She can go on her own because she's been on her own here. I, honestly, don't know how she would react in a normal busy ferret environment because she's only been around my two boys who pick on her.
This is just a short bio of my babies. I'd love to talk to anyone who might be interested, I have a little window of time to find homes for them but I don't want them going to just anyone and there's NO way I would be desperate enough to post them up on Craigslist. Feel free to email me at aliciamnielsen@gmail.com and we can discuss if you want to come by and see them? Arrange a ferret play-date perhaps to see if they will fit in at your home? I'd be willing to do whatever it takes to get them a GOOD home. I have 100 toys and tubes and squeakers and beds for them, and I have one Marshall Townhouse cage that Loki and Charlie sleep in, and one Playpen with extension that River has been sleeping in.
Please, if you or someone you know would be willing to help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
Have asked for contact info for anyone interested.
