the new kit has been eatting a mixture of evo red and freeze dried snacks/soup since i brought him home. The past two days i had given him a mixture of beechnut chicken and one small container of fresh pet select turkey and liver mixed with various freeze dried (minnows, shrimp, squid, lamb, rabbit and beef pieces) well he really liked it and finished it all of earlier this morning. A few mins ago i stoped by the grocery store and picked up raw stuffed salmon, oysters, mini drumsticks and chicken gizzards. I tested him out with a small piece of raw salmon and he ate all of it so i gave him a mini chicken drum stick. He didn't even flinch and has been gnawing on it non-stop since i put it in the bowl!! I was shocked. He's eaten all the meat off the top half so far <3 The only issue is his food aggression for example last night i tried to hand feed him a treat in an open palm and instead of taking it he bit me twice. Any ideas on what i can do to get him to calm down? i dont want to have to worry about possibly missing a finger when i go to hand feed my ferrets because of this one.

He'll calm down, don't worry. Right now he's FINALLY discovered real food, and has trouble telling the difference between where the food stops and you begin . Once his appetite is about sated, try again. I think you'll find it's much easier, with no bitten fingers! And congratulations to both you and your fuzzum! Isn't it fantastic that they enjoy what they are eating? And get so excited about it ;D

Congrats! Awesome progress! While he is interested, try out a variety of meats and textures. It will make it much easier later on.

He ate all of the chicken leg and i gave him an oyster. He ate some of it but if his chicken bone is in the dish he will totally focus on the bone. Cant wait until next week when i can put in an order for meats.

hmm I've been giving him the chicken leg alternating with lamb and gizzards. At first his poop looked kinda like jerky and solid, that dried meat look. Now it's all brown/runny. I have pumpkin and gave him a little should more be given? I put fish oil on the pumpkin to get him to eat it and i haven't given him any freeze dried in the last two days or any kibble since he finished off the soup i was giving him. Oh he also chews all of the meat and cartilage off the bone.

It's the bone itself that helps to firm up the poops. Try giving him some edible bone like chicken wings. You can also smash up, or cut lengthwise(warning- this can be difficult!), so he might eat a bit more of the leg bone. It's frequently too dense for them. You can also put some powdered eggshell on his meat chunks as well til he's eating the bone well. As for the pumpkin, you can give him about 1/2 tsp a day.

until i get in an apartment i cant get egg shell with out throwing away the eggs I bought antler velvet but i left it at my familys house when i drove to nj Ill try to get some wings and see if i cant break into these leg bones in the mean time. TY. on a different note today he was chasing me around and i stood behind the wall totally still while he was distracted with a sneaker to see if he'd find me. He even walked by me then started running around the room frantically and making the crying noise he makes when caged. Then he went to the bed and kept jumping trying to get up there until i walked out LOL. It was soo cute. He's like a little shadow.

go to the local pet store and get some cuttle fish bone ( pure calcium like bonemeal or egg shells ) you will find it in the bird food isle ( birds chew on it to keep there bills down ) grind it up in a pestle and mortar and sprinkle on his food ( you can save left over ground up cuttlefish in a dry air tight jar ) hope this helps take care bye for now crazy lady

hmm I never thought of that and I used to have parakeets years ago lol. ;D My order from hare-today and it came in and I got week old quail chicks. I threw one in with the ferrets and the kit was all over it i went in after hearing chewing and he had eaten the whole head He ate half the wings and stoped when he got halfway through the body to the organs. Bear licked a wing but wasn't interested and Baby, forget about it, wanted no where near the thing. While i was in the hotel i stopped giving him raw everyday because i only had chicken and lamb as options so up until this order its just been a raw wing once a day and kibble because i had the paypen near the bed and his poops smelled so bad it would wake me up.
