I'm not sure if this is in the right place or not, but this was the best place I could find to put this...
I know kibble feeding isn't the best, but I want to do lots more research into raw items before deciding to switch to raw for my fuzzbutts. I acquired Dren and her (still unnamed) cagemate last Monday. They were fed a mix of Marshall's Ferret Food & some kind of, supposedly, high quality kitten kibble. The previous owner said it was "Nutra" something. I'm thinking it was possibly "Nutro" because I've never heard of "NutrA". I'm kinda thinking she didn't feed them anything mixed with the Marshall's...
Anyways, I have switched them to Wellness CORE Cat/Kitten kibble and they don't seem too interested in it. Well, Dren seems to like it more then her cagemate. He seems to be a bit picky. I'm just not sure if they just don't like it because it's not Marshall's or if they just don't like it...well, because they just don't. So, my concern is...should I try another brand or keep trying to get them to eat this one?

Nope, no need to change you just need them to transition over to it and wean off of the old stuff. Mix a little new food in with some of the old, then slowly change the ratios until you wean them completely off of the Marshall's. My newest little guy is not big on anything but his Marshall's, but we'll get him weaned off pretty quick. Once they switch over they never look back.

So, doing some more reading. It is best to feed multiple types of kibbles if feeding kibble?
Also, I read EVO was bought out by another company, so would that even be a kibble to consider anymore?

I know there is a lot of rumors going in about EVO and P&G. One member here contacted them and they responded saying no changes have been made at this time. I also know someone who works there, and they also said P&G has no intentions of changing it.

Awesome! I just wanted to make sure it was still a brand that was good. I've been studying the More Dooks list of acceptable kibbles and trying to stay within the blue tier as much as possible. There's a store about 30 minutes or so from me that carries a lot of the brands on the list and even has a buy 12 bags get 1 free deal. Not that I tend to drive out there very often since it's a bit of a drive, but it's nice to have that benefit! I just want to be able to buy all the items in one place instead of multiple places.

I'm not saying its going to stay a good kibble (or how long it will be good) - I have no idea what P&G will eventually do. But (IMO) at this moment, I don't think they've changed it.

So, not knowing if they will change the ingredients or not: Should I consider even getting that brand?

It took Bindi a good week of protesting before she finally surendered off of Marshalls and accepted the mix of Turkey/Chicken EVO Canine and CORE cat. As for P&G buying out EVO, I'm comfortable feeding it for now but for the same reasons we always suggest a mix, I wouldnt use it as a sole food source. I chose the EVO Turkey/Chicken Canine because I have heard multiple times that the EVO cat can cause diarrhea. The T/C canine is very similar, just not quite sooooo high in fat and protein so it doesnt slide right out lol. I'm happy with it thus far

Some places have free sample packs - I put it out in a seperate bowl - this is how I found out they like duck - I use wellness core - Wysong epigen 90 for ferrets (mail), Orijen, Blue wilderness duck. They also eat freeze dried Vital essentials - this started out as a treat and about 2 months I noticed my one boy would be waiting for it so I have a bowl for it now also - in the begining I cut it up into smaller pieces and its hard like kibble.

After I switched from marshalls (had to buy one bag with his purchase to validate is health guarantee, just in case) I switched him to Orijen Cat & Kitten, and Now! Kitten duck based kitten formula. He was on that for awhile, but then I switched out the Now! for Wysong's Ferret Epigen 90. Rolo loved Epigen right away, I guess because it's so high meat content. Origen is 80% meat products, and Epigen is 90% meat. Orijen is 42% protein and %20 fat, while Epigen is 60% protein, and 20% fat. I worry that Epigen is slightly too high protein, and that Orijen is slightly too low (when compared on a dry matter basis to a mouse) so that is why I mix them, because I feed them half & half and they balance each other out. I also feed premade commercial raw in the evenings. I started this forever ago, so that when the time came to fully switch him onto raw, he would recognize it as food, and it honestly can't hurt to be giving him delicious juicy chicken necks and such can it? Rolo seems to love the chicken necks, and as long as I cut the bones small enough to fit comfortably in his mouth he will chomp them up too now Rolo is doing very well on this diet, his fur is soft, he doesn't smell (my roommate swears it - because I asked her if she was bothered by it, and she seemed surprised because there really was no smell, and she had expected him to smell, at least a little bit.) He's also at his ideal weight according to vet, who told me he sees "way too many" overweight ferrets - who are probably fed marshalls kibble.

Indeed mine are living on a mix of Evo (phasing it out though due to nasty stools) Go! Fit & Free, Orijen cat and now some Wysong Epigen 90 (the cat and dog version for now, haven't found the ferret one locally.) and are doing very well on the high end kibbles. But we are gradually switching them over to raw. Right now they get a commercial raw grind 1-2 times a day with kibble left out for them during the day. We also get the occasional freeze dried tidbit as a treat.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I can get a few brands from my work (I get a discount!) as I studied the list more.
Those brands include:
Wellness CORE Cat (Which I'm currently feeding the three fuzzbutts) Professional Kitten (Chicken/Rice) BLUE Wilderness
And there's a vet's office a little bit down the street and around the corner that is suppose to carry EVO, but I haven't called yet to make sure they do carry it.
