So how do I know where my ferret is from? I got her from Petcetera, but I have no idea where she originally came from. How can I tell?

Check her ear - does she have any tattoos?

Sometimes by their tats, sometimes the petstore will tell you (you have to ask), some come with birthcertificates that will tell you, sometimes you just don't know but you love them anyway . Sometimes you know by what petstores support which ferret farms. In my area, most of the petstores support Marshals, so that's what you get. In the TO area there are more RCs and PVs. In the Hamilton/London corridor there are a couple of BYB ferret farms that supply the area. It's basically know your tats (double spot in the ear=marshals, single bar= RC) those are the common tats. Hope that helps a bit ciao

MArshall's ferrets have two blue dots, RC ferrets have a black bar. I think FFF someone said (Triple F Farms? not sure...) has a pink dot... Not 100% sure on that one. Backyard Breeders, Breeder Ferrets, and I believe PV ferrets do not have tattoos.
