My ferret is an only ferret but he loves to play with my cat and my dog. He is friendly and he doesn't play too rough. We just got a new kitten, 8wks old. He is very interested in meeting her face to face but I'm afraid she might be too small and his hunting instincts might kick in. He doesn't eat a live prey diet but he is on raw.
Any input?

It is recommended that a ferret and kitten not be allowed to play together until the kitten is at least 4 months old. I would be terribly concerned putting a ferret in with a kitten of that age. I know some people on this list have put their kittens in with their ferrets very young. I just prefer to err on the side of caution in this case. I've seen ferrets kill and know how fast it happens. I know that ferrets in play are actually hunting each other....same as cats. A kitten's skin ( a cat's for that matter) rarely stands up to the rough play of a ferret. ciao

That's pretty much what my gut feeling was. She's just too small and can't even jump up to get out of the way. Thanks!
