Haven't update for 3 days, but all 4 boys are now eating the mince twice a day on their own They are eating about 8 oz a meal at the moment. I've been working a LOT and haven't had time to introduce slivers of meat yet, but will be doing that in a day or two.

Well, they are now taking approx. 70% small bits of meat(around the size of the entire pinkie nail) in their mince. I did move a bit too fast for them last night. I decided to try them with well smashed up chicken wings plain, but no takers. Oh well, back to adding in some mince, and hopefully move up again!

The boys(all 4) will now take chicken wing tips whole, as well as chicken chunks approx. 1" long, and gizzards pieces!!! Time to start introducing new proteins. I think we'll start with pork.

They get the same thing for 3 meals running ;D Old out, and new in. And the new protein was pork, and it went over VERY well! So has the quail they got last night. Now, I have to get them on heart, liver, organ and they'll be switched!!!

Tough love is my moto!! LOL. Haven't had any kibble at my house since August or September ( I think) of last year. That is when I switched my crew to raw. Since that time I have brought home three new kibble fed ferrets and just threw them into the mix. They get hungry and figure out what to do by watching the others. I think it is harder to switch a single ferret than it is to switch a group. Once one or two get it, the others tend to follow suit.

Not my girl Mayhem... she used to stare at the rest of the group mowing down soup like they were some sort of strange, disgusting beasts. Wouldn't go anywhere near the bowl for quite a while. Then she started feeling left out, got put out and slowly gravitated to the rest of the group and eventually came over to the dark side. Albeit she is still very begrudging about it and still thinks I'm trying to poison her when I try feeding her a new protein.

Also the possible problem(and you have to watch VERY closely)- if you have a ferret who may be developing insulinoma, going without food for even 12 hrs can push them over the edge into a seizure.

Yeah. Mayhem is only about a year old and *shouldn't* be in any danger of insuloma yet, but if she skips the morning meal and is not interested in eating what I put out for dinner, I let her have a little kibble or her preferred protein of chicken to make sure she is eating *something*.

My crew are all very competitive for food, so I think that helped as well. I can pretty much give them anything. If it is something new, I have two who will eat anything. As soon as the others see them hauling a piece off, they all want some.
