And we have success This is Indie and Odin eating a liver soupie. Judge came up and had some afterwards, and Cody was eating the whole livers along with Frodo and Emily last night I tucked the dish in their cage, and they finished it right up! They are now taking their heart well. They are all on the same diet as the others for bone, meat, organs They are officially switched!

So- from July 29 to today, September 02, and we have 4 more fully raw fed ferrets. Cody has grown since we got him, but I expected that since he was only 7m old at the time. However- all four boys are starting to put on the muscle now. Energy levels have increased. Kibble stink is gone. Their bodies are still detoxing somewhat, but it won't be long now They are all chewing away on segmented chicken wings, turkey necks, cornish hen, pork, turkey, and quail. I leave beef entirely off the menu since Frodo is allergic, and I don't want him accidently(on purpose) stealing any from another cage and getting sick. In time, they will also be introduced to lamb chunks(they eat the commercial variety fine), as well as goat. For commercial, turkey is the mainstay. I mix in a smaller amount of one of the following: lamb, goat, and salmon.

Hi, I'm new to the forum I just started mine on the soupie recipe the forum suggest. About how long after the kibble is out and they are soley on the soup should I start with the chunks? A full week? I don't want to rush them and since there is eggshell and organ it is safe to keep them on that for a little while before the intro to bone right. Again I'm new and hope it was ok to post a question Lisa

It's fine to post a question...as they say, the only stupid question is an unasked question.
My instinct would be to if they are eating the soup well then begin with chunks, you can always go back a step if they aren't ready. Having said that I will say that I haven't had problems transitioning anyone for years (monkey see, monkey do has worked for me and so any newbies see my other ferrets eating and just join in), so hopefully someone who is more experienced in gradual switches will chime in soon.
Oh and welcome to the forum

Therese is right- both on when to start the slivers AND about asking questions

And dietary deficiencies are something you really won't have to worry about unless the transition period is a few months in the making.

Sherry I went to the Arusha website to investigate, you said you feed yours essentials. but the site is for raw cat and dog food so what should I be looking at?? Im one of those people who needs a 'plan' in place before I undertake something important and our babies are definitely that! I haven't even started to switch them over except to offer eggs-three loved eggs two would have no part of it.

Generally the cat version is more appropriate for ferrets. But any product that has 5% or less of fiber is fine
