Lucrezia is now almost 3 years old. She's a hearing impaired DEW. When we first got her at 13 weeks, in order for her to recognize "no", we'd hold her up to eye level, shake our heads, and say "NO", so she'd at least feel our breath, and see the facial expression. She developed a habit when one of us would do this. Pick up ferret, scowl, look at her, say "NO", and as soon as she'd see us even begin to frown, she'd start tossing her head, and look ANYWHERE but at us I even tried scruffing, so she would HAVE to see me do this. Little beggar would close her eyes, and refuse to "hear" me ;D She STILL does this! She was trying to pull my slipper off this morning(and I'll admit- they should go out, some of the sole is...loose ;D ). I picked her up, looked her in the eyes, started to frown- and she tossed her head every which way. Tried to keep her head still so she'd have to see me? Shut her eyes The thing is? If we aren't scolding her, she will look us in the eye, no problem at all She simply refuses flatly to hear "no". Kind of like the little kid sticking the fingers in the ears, yelling "nanananana, can't HEAR you" ;D ;D ;D

That is so cute! Well even though she is not looking at you, she does know she is getting scolded since she is looking away. So the message is getting through regardless. So funny though!

Oh, I KNOW she gets the message. The reproachful looks when she gets down are hilarious ;D As to whether or not she actually decides to heed it is another matter entirely!!!

I particularly enjoy it when you tell them no, they know their busted and they still continue to do it and wait until the very last second when you reach them to take off running. Tonight Gizmo was caught eating a piece of dog food and I yelled Gizmo NO! and he waited till I got close and then he grabbed another piece and ran his chunky little butt as fast as he could under the bookcase.

Oh Lucrezia. I've scruffed Asher when he bites me and it takes him FOREVER to yawn. I'm yelling "Submit! Submit d*mn you!" and he just looks at me like "oh mom, you're silly." Brats I tell ya!
