A lady on facebook has been selling quail for awhile, they are adults now and the price is decent so I'm going to buy a dozen since I am almost out. I just have no idea if the quail I get from rodent pro are the same kind as these? Maybe that's a dumb question but what do I know about birds lol. I also don't know how I should kill them, the web says pop their heads off. That sounds pretty horrible all around, can you snap their neck or slit throats instead? Should I gut them? The ones I get online are whole and not cleaned...

I have no idea how large adult quail are. All I can do is go by the adult chicken we harvested when I was a kid. Some people could pop the head off, no problem. Most of us used a hatchet and chopped it off.

I do have a hatchet, maybe we will go that way. My brother used to work at a turkey slaughterhouse but those are quite a bit larger lol.

Or you can always do what they do with chickens. Less messier. Hold them by their neck and whip them down. Dont hit the body or anything but it snaps their neck clean and fast.

Yes, there are different varieties of quail. However, this shouldn't make a difference food wise. I suspect that she has the common game bird and not the really pretty quails.

Went and bought them and killed them, the things I do for the ferrets I swear. Good news is the lady said if I will keep buying them she will continue to raise some, it's about the same price as rodent pro just no crazy shipping! Most looked like the rodent pro kind but there were 2-3 that looked different.
