Was wondering if anyone had any experience with these? i heard that if a jill is spayed it can still happen is this true? are there any health issues involved? How long does it last? Thanks for your help! Rosie

Hello I'm going to move this to the breeders board as they would be the best to answer this question. My gut tells me no on your question though.

A Jill would have to either be put with a v-hob or get a Jill jab for a phantom pregnancy to occur. Not sure if it also happens when brought out if season with the des implant but am assuming so. If she's spayed she'd have none of the hormones released to trigger a phantom.

An alter or sprite cannot season unless, she's had an incomplete spay which means that she will need to have the surgery to complete the botched job. My understanding that a jill will phantom with the DES but I may be mistaken. She definitely will phantom if she's been with a v-hob or the use of the jill jab, as Sherry mentioned ciao

It is customary for a jill who's been "jabbed" to phantom. An intact jill can season 2 or 3 times during the summer. So, it is common for every time you "jab" and the jill will go into a pseudo pregnancy. ciao

Hi Heather is correct with regarding the phantom often jills can phantom after jab and hardly show any signs ( this maybe what happened with her first jab ) this time she may get fatter start and act strange ( eg become nippy or protective of her cage and nesting area ) she will eat a lot more develop a large tummy ( dont worry nothing in there lol ) sleep a lot then begin nesting on day 44 you will notice she appears slimmer ( her 42 days are up ) she may act frantic as if she is looking for something ( her imaginary babies ) and if you have other ferrets she may try to clean them and drag them into her nest these will become her babies if you have no other ferrets she may be a bit off for a week or so then return to normal depending on the time of year she came into season she can have two or three seasons a year if you never intend breeding from her and don't have access to a vas hob it maybe cheaper to have her speyed ( as jill jabs 2-3 times per year for 10 years add up to quite a sum ) and the more jill jabs she has the less fertile she will become in the future if you do intend to breed her later in life hope this helps take care bye for now bev
