Does anyone have any DIY ferret toys that their ferrets love? I know about derby eggs and am planning to either learn how to make them or buy some online. I also used some scrap fleece the other day to make some big pom pom balls that I thought might be fun.
I'm going to buy a dryer duct from Menard's for her to play in but other than that, I am facing a real lack of toy ideas!
Do you guys ever make your own toys to give your ferrets? I know how to sew so that isn't an issue. What are some good ideas for toys that I could make?

Have you checked out the enrichment section? There has been a ton of stuff discussed there. Toys, tunnels anything to offer mental and physical stimulation to our little ones ciao

Definitely read through the enrichment section, some great ideas there.
Some off the top of my head: fill plastic Easter eggs with beads/pasta/rice and cover in a baby sock (or any sock or fabric).
My kids like playing with plastic Christmas ornaments. They roll them around.

A favourite of mine are cardboard box mazes. Get a bunch of smaller boxes, cut holes in them, and tape them together.

OOOooo, I like the cardboard box idea. I improvised on the egg and baby sock idea and used baby mitties. They sell a pkg. of 4 at the Dollar store for yes, a buck. You know the kind that keep infants from scratching their faces. No thumbs. They are especially good with the larger plastic eggs. I filled mine with pasta ( tape the egg shut) and Mimsy has stashed the first 4 and I just made 4 more. So far they are her fav. She also likes a stuffed sock,,,,adult size. I just stuffed with a couple other shot socks and tied a knot in it. It seems to be a good length for beating up and dragging around. Don't forget a box of the plasticy type grocery bags ( with the handles cut) and piled in a box. That one is a hit here. My dad bought a new rug and it was rolled on two 6 ft. heavy duty cardboard tubes. Since i have expanded their play area, I duct taped 10 feet or so of dryer hose to each of the cardboard tubes and they are loving that. I think when it comes to toys, with a little imagination, it can be pretty inexpensive stuff and they love it as much as anything else.

Thanks for all of the awesome ideas, guys! I did read through the enrichment section finally. So far I've come up with a few ideas for things I'm going to make for her. - Dig box -- I'm going to use some sort of plastic box like I've seen and put rice and possibly some pasta noodles inside; maybe I'll throw in a few of those 25 cent cat toys for her to search for.
- Homemade derby eggs -- Target sells these super cute knee high socks (only $2.50/pair!)with fun prints and I was going to put a sealed easter egg with a bell inside.
- Tube -- I'm going to use a dryer duct from Menard's.
One thing that I really want to make for her is a crinkly toy of some sort. I'm not sure about how to make it! I was thinking of making a plushie or something and in the stuffing, putting some grocery bags? I don't know, maybe that wouldn't work. Anyone made their own crinkly toys before?

Oh another idea is some kind of water toy. A large cat box filled with water. You can fill it with baby toys (platsic rings for teething) ping pong balls. You could fill bottle caps with oil and float them on the water.

My FN came with a bunch of bubble wrap and plastic bags (they wrap all the parts). I stuffed all the regular plastic bags inside the bubble wrap plastic bag and then stuffed that under their FN lol. They love it. I'll find someone sleeping in there almost every day and they always like to tunnel through it and it was FREE... after the purchase of a FN ;D ;D

Be really careful about the plastic and bubble wrap. If they suddenly take it into their heads to start chewing it, it's a blockage.

i was gonna say plastic bags. never seen a fert chew on one and i've had 18. a large trash bag is good for rides, or you can tie a string to a water bottle case and pull them around in that

You'll need to change the items in the did box about every playtime as Jeremy was really annoyed about finding the rocks the second time in ours.

I thought plastic bags were a favorite among ferrets and ferrents The plastic bags with the handles cut under direct supervision only It's the bubble wrap that can be a major concern!

Sherry, what about if I put plastic bags inside a homemade stuffed animal so it crinkled? Too risky? What else could I use to make a toy like that? I read that the crinkly stuff that they use in baby toys is cellophane, would that be okay or what?
