My fiancees father is opening a butcher shop in their country, my fiancee told me we were going to buy the machinary and before we sent it to honduras, i could use it to make bone in ground meat to try and help Mojito and Kahlua take the next step in raw feeding.
So far nothing and Im getting impatient, especially since I've seen SoCo dive head first into a chicken neck all buy himself (he will be three months on the 12th, hes my first kit. Kahlua (almost three years old, i thought she was almost four but i was looking at my reminders from when I adopted her and it seems somewhere along the line I added a year! I thought some reason that she was 2.5 when she came home, she was only 1.5!!) and Mojito is almost 6. I adopted Kahlua a little over a year ago and Mojito a little under a year ago and when I learned raw was best and that I could do it with my schedual I decided to go for it. I have had SoCo a week and 2 days, he has been gung ho for raw since his first night and is actually been better then them.
I make soupies now consisting of
2-3 Chicken hearts, 1-2 chickin livers OR 1 beef liver (they love liver) and a few of the lung shaped things(anyone know what theyre called?), a jar of either chicken, turkey or beef baby food, and then chicken or beef chunks. They have to be small or no one will eat them, but they are there. I freeze it and when I give it to them I add 1/4 teaspoon oil, 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin and a few drops ferretone skin and coat. Just a lil while ago I learned that oil should be every three days so I will be cutting that down, lol. I think I got it confused with egg shell powder because that ive been doing every 3-4 nights! That I will be upping, lol... So I make this soup and I give it to them daily. They still have EVO to munch on if they get hungry though they barely touch the EVO anymore. HOWEVER when I give them BIG hunks of meat or I try a bone in meat, it gets eaten around- if im lucky it gets licked and nibbled but usually ignored. I dont know what to do on that front other than waiting on the meat grinder I guess?? I dont even know at this point if that will help.. How do I get them to eat bigger hunks and to recognize bone in meats are food?
The baby will eat bone in meats, I plan on a chicken leg for his dinner tonight sprinkled with egg shell powder. For the first like 2 nights I had him I was still giving him kibble (thought i mixed it with raw soupie to make it mushy instead of water) though I asked and everyone said I can give him raw with out weaning him off kibble mush! I was excited so now he is on raw! YAAAY!! Hes had some runny poop issues but thats probably a lot of factors plus the fact that I had the oil amount and the eggshell amount confused. I still cant believe myself, I mustve wrote it wrong in my notes! For him Im thinking about this:
bone in meat w/eggshell powder (he hasnt quite got the concept of eating bones yet) for 2 nights then 2 nights of muscle meat w/eggshell powder then 2 nights of bone in meat w/eggshell powder (until he gets the picture about bones) then one night with liver, heart and the lung things
OR can I do the previously listed plan but instead of an organ night do one heart every night and livers alternated with the lung thingies every other day? I feel like... having just one kind of meat per night will be boring for him. He likes to try new things and I want to encourage that.
Also I would be doing oil every three days with this.. how often would I do pumpkin? Is that something Id still put every night or would that be every few nights aswell?
Onne more question: Fish!
My fiancee gave SoCo some salmon the other night, not a whole lot, but SoCo scarfed it down and was looking for more. He likes Sardines too. How often can I give him fish? How much can I give him?
EDIT- ALMOST FORGOT!!
How often do I feed SoCo? How much should I feed him at a time?
I will probably have more, I appreciate all responses in advance!
