It's official. We will be getting Riley's old cagemate this Sunday!!! Loki, 3 years old, BEA (black eyed albino). She's extremely docile, like Riley was (minus when Riley wanted blood). Only thing I'm worried about is Bonkers since he is just starting to adjust to Riley. I guess I'll just pamper him more and give him even more one-on-one time with mommy. So, 5 ferrets, 1 rodent, two bedroom apartment... ahahaha This should be interesting! Though, don't worry, they have plenty of space still. A decent size hallway, a bathroom (literally THEIR bathroom), their room/my study room, kitchen (only the boys; girls can fit under counters!), and the large living room/dining room. 1200 sq. ft I think. Might be 1400. I'll post pics next weekend!

Longest separation I'm aware of around here I've heard of ending with being reunited. Someone's two ferrets had gotten out. Anyway, one wound up at the rescue, without being claimed for a very long time. Another ferret was turned in a year later. Someone was going back through old files, found the two pictures, wound up contacting the original owner, who confirmed, yes those had both been hers(she no longer wanted them, or couldn't care for them, or SOMETHING). Anyway, they(rescue) brought these two back together again. From what I was told the dancing, dooking, and chattering didn't stop til they basically fell down from exhaustion Turned out they'd been bonded cage mates for three years prior to the unintended separation. So, do expect some sort of excitement when they see each other again

Awwwww that was a really sad story but with a very happy ending! I very much hope Loki is excited. Apparently their vet had looked her over last week and said she is losing weight and seems to be severely depressed. After questions were answered, the vet said it's very likely all of it is due to her missing Riley, despite them only being cagemates roughly 6 months. <3 I can't wait to see them together. I'm pretty sure I'm more excited about this than my tax returns

I'm so glad that you're getting Riley's cagemate Loki. Congratulations. I hope you're going to post pics of their reunion. I'm sure that the separation is probably the cause of Loki's weight loss. People are just not aware of the attachments that these little ones form with each other and their people. It can be absolutely heartrending to see and sometimes there is nothing you can do for them. It's one of the reasons why I have such difficulty with pet stores who have little ones and sometimes they stay for quite long periods of time together, bonding sharing. Then one is sold. The one that is left behind is absolutely despondant often suffering severe depression while the one was purchased often develops stomach upsets which most new owners put down to changes in diet, surroundings and possible bacteria and viral issues picked up from the pet store. ciao
