HOW DO YOU DO IT!?!? I recently got a second ferret and her and Dexter sure know how to drive me crazy.. From messing up the cage, digging the water, pooping where they know they aren't suppose to, digging my mattress, stashing everything! It's crazy.... I couldn't imagine owning more than two and keeping my sanity. But man, do I love it though! I actually enjoy cleaning the poopy boxes and cage when I come home from school. Have I officially gone mad!?!?

I've got great respect for those with large businesses, I've got 4 right now and that is so easy, when I had 7 it was too much for me.

...I know.... At 3 we said "This is the last one" ....roughly 6 months later 4 "This is the last one for their lifetime" ....2 months later....5. lol But we accepted Loki because she is our last ferret (riley)'s cagemate. So we are reuniting them like you did with Dexter and his sister!

What is it that the British used to say? "Carry on!" -- yes -- Carry On -- one more isn't going to hurt (and You're giving a fuzzy a HOME!)

I started out with two, and when we got Oz, I thought the same thing. OMG, WHAT HAVE I DONE? It gets easier, the more you proof and know their style of mayhem.

It's not just that, either, though. I think you start to become somewhat immune to the "oopsies" they have, and just clean it up without thinking about it. And then there's the "oh- look- another tantrum", and carry on about your business ;D You also start to recognize what they are doing by the sounds you hear. I know when mine are in the tub playing, or the cupboards/drawer upstairs, or digging at the doorways, while I'm down here in the living room. You just start to relax more with them over time.

One thing I loe about having more, is that they seem to entertain each other better than when I had one or two who would just go opposite ways and make twice as much trouble LOL

I just added my third, and I have to say, besides the initial training I have to do, it really isn't much more work than two. Litter box cleaned, food prep is the same. I find that my younger one Trixie now has someone to play with when Pixie is too lazy or busy.

I actually think that out of all the animals I've had, ferrets are one of the easiest to care for. I think our cats have caused the most damage and have been the most annoying with the exception of when we were living in our apartment with four rabbits. The rabbits were very destructive. Like Sherry said, once you have your place ferret proofed and you know their habits they are pretty easy. My ferrets haven't destroyed anything since I've had them and I've just made adjustments for the things that they were doing that were annoying like digging out the dirt in the plants. I got some plant stands and moved others out of reach and now I don't have to vacuum up potting soil everyday.

I found that my limit was 18...that was when cleaning up after the little sods took away from playing with them. The unfortunate thing about that period was that though I had 18 little fuzzes, 5 of them were ill and of those 5 three of them were being syringe fed and very sick, the other 2 only moderately (hand feeding required but were eating willingly enough). All at the time requiring medications at various times for various fuzzy problems. I think if you had 18 healthy fuzzes it would be wonderful. I found at 12 and 13 it was such a blast. Everyone lived together reasonably in peace and the thundering of fuzzy feet, the rattling of tubes and just general mayhem was soo much fun. Unfortunately, these little souls are not the picture of health and they don't all get along very often.... but it's still a lot fun and I wouldn't have traded those times and getting to know those fuzzies for anything. ciao

Heather - I admire you for having that many as well as some ill ones. Dookdook - I'm glad you have reunited those siblings. I bet, in time, you will want more (along with these two). Ferrets are addictive As others have said, once you know their habits, another one or two is still easy. Get to know those habits, and add on another and it's easy. =] Well, perhaps not easy, but it's still loads of fun! I think 3 was the easiest for me, I'm hoping another odd number will be better. Hehe ...so, since you posted...MORE PICS!!!!!!
