Anyone else tried one for their ferrets? I picked up a simple basic drinkwell one on sale and the ferrets seem to love it, but we don't let them use it unattended for now until we make a few adjustments. They like to knock the lid off and steal the charcoal filter out of it, lol! They also push it around the cage/floor and slosh water all over the place. We are working on a way to secure the lid and secure the whole thing to the cage so they can have it on all the time.
My albino boy loves it in particular as he enjoys snorkeling and splashing in our water crocks and dishes. He was very perplexed with the fountain though, moving it and shoving his nose in the spout and trying to figure out how the heck this thing miraculously moves without him havng to splash it lol.

I've not tried them for the simple reason all the water would be dug out and the motor burned out the first day

All water must be freed from it's restrictive bounds....at least in a ferret's mind. My guys would have the poor thing empty and burned out in less than a day. I used to have one of those auto water bottles for the cats.....it was the first time I'd ever seen how much 1 litre of water was on the floor ciao

I'd also worry about any moving parts. Ferrets are too nosy for their own good

One of the worst buys I've made for the boys First, they don't like the moving water (yet they LOOOOOOVE to get into the shower and REQUIRE me to turn on the water just enough so it can drip and they can drink/play in it - go fig). Second, they would tear the thing apart piece by piece and stash the pieces

Well so much for me buying one for the boys! Though I bet the dogs would love it.

Well so much for me buying one for the boys! Though I bet the dogs would love it. Hmm I wouldn't say it's not worth it. Ours very clearly love it, especially Artemis who likes to bathe his face and front paws every day. (He must have gotten sick of momma bathing him constantly to wash poop out of his white fur LOL!) We are just currently making some engineering changes so that they can't push it around and spill too much water out of it or flip the top off and steal the filter. There's no real danger of moving parts, the only thing that moves is the pump and they cannot reach it unless they tipped it upside down completely. I will post pictures of our finished modifications when complete.

We have one for our cat and the ferrets absolutely love it. They will drink, then stick their little faces into it and snorkel about. I've only had them tip it over maybe twice in the month we've had it, but since we're always right there supervising play time, we are able to unplug it before it burns up the motor. Jayne will sometimes get an attitude and try dragging it around by the cord in the back of it, which doesn't last long because daddy doesn't let him get away with ANYTHING . But otherwise, I think it was a really good investment for everyone. ;D
