Hi, my name is Kim and I just aquired an elderly ferret With insulinoma. I am guessing her age to be at least 6 by her teeth. She was dumped by her previous owners I am hoping that this site will help me manage her disease so that she can at least enjoy the rest of her life in a loving home. Any advise is welcome as I am new to this.

Do you have previous experience with insuinomic ferrets? If not, we can help you understand the feeding requirements (The best diet for insulinoma includes high protein, no carbs/sugars, and food available at all times. I find the very easiest way maintain this diet as well as switching to a non-kibble diet is to feed a freeze-dried raw diet. Unfortunately, these diets are not cheap. However, they are so nutrient-packed that ferret will be eating less volume to get the nutrition they need.
Depending upon the degree of disease (early-/late-stage), medical therapy may be necessary. (prednisolone is the typically the drug most commonly used)
Do you have any experience managing a hypoglycemic episode? If not, we can help with that as well.

Welcome to the forum, and there are a lot of people who can help with a switch in diet -- holistic, healthy, something to keep the fuzz going -- best of luck.

Hi and Welcome! I am so sorry that your baby is sick, but SO glad that she found such a wonderful and loving home! With a raw diet I hope she will live the last of her years (may they be many!) in good health and very happy and well loved. PAH on her previous owners for taking such terrible care of her and abandoning her too! Feel free to browse around and ask any questions. Mustelidmusk (Jennifer) is a great resource for insulinoma, and Heather as well. I think there are several members who have adopted fuzzies and had to deal with this terrible disease. They will help you any way they can. I know there is one user *blanking on username * who had a fuzz who came in in terrible shape with Insulinoma and Adrenal. The ferret's name was Ovana and with a raw diet and medical care she regrew her coat and lived a relatively healthy, very happy life for her remaining time. Sadly she passed recently. Her owner did a fantastic job though - you would not believe the before and after of this little girl. If anyone can remember her user name she would be a great resource for you to tap. Good luck and welcome and congrats! And THANK YOU for taking in a needy fuzzy. You will be well rewarded with her undying love.
