At 3 feet, I've got guys that can jump up to that without problems. It would be if they've got the upper body strength to pull themselves over or not. I would be very careful. I discovered today that where there's a will there's a way. I had a wee jill discover today that a cleaning bucket was not what she was expecting. I've never had a ferret that can make a clean jump into this particular bucket. It has very high sides (I bought it of just that reason). Lady Morgain, without hesitation or a run at the bucket jumped and landed square in the bucket, she never even touched the sides....come to think of it I don't think she touched the sides on the way out either ;D ;D ciao I never put anything past ferrets. Just when you think "oh no, he could NEVER..." oh yes he CAN and yes he DID! I'm sure your UK babies are making you say this ALOT.

does it seem like UK kits are smarter than the American ones?

Responsibly bred ferrets should generally show more intelligence and strength. Heathers ferrets are from hunting stock, so I'm sure they are very quick and agile.

I don't have kits..persay. I have adults. They're all a year or just under a year of age. Intact ferrets appear to think more...think about Finn, Mikey's boy. Our farm ferrets are bred to be docile and to be kits all their life (except maybe Sonny ) Intact ferrets appear to think things out and have purpose. I'm not sure that what Lady Morgain did was particularly smart, just athletic. Now, the 'bino brats...they're smart. They work things out. That's what they were bred to be though. Marshals bred their ferrets to be docile, compliant...you don't necessarily get that when you start breeding for smarts. These guys would be classified as difficult ferrets and for the unprepared would be rescues very quickly. Lady Morgain is quick to use her teeth...she doesn't bite indiscriminately, she's not aggressive like Minion but she does bite ciao

Well, I wondered...since you have more entertaining stories---especially the ducttape door one...They just seem more intelligent...

Heather- I would have PAID to see the expression on her face when she realized exactly what was actually IN the bucket ;D

It was hilarious. She rather reminded me of those frilly lizards (I don't know the proper name) that run on their back legs. I honestly think she ran on the top of the water....Oh, she was p*ssed. The angry squawk and then the loud dooking as she ran around the room. Her wee tail was so bottle brushed that you'd swear the fur was going to fly off. I finally caught up with her and dried her up of course, but the look she gave me. I told her it was all her fault for not listening to me and leave the bucket alone. Today, I noticed she never even looked at the bucket but made a wide turn around it ;D ;D ciao

Reminds me of my cat a while back. As soon as I'd open the bathroom door after a shower, she'd come flying in and jump in the tub to pad around in the wee bit of water still in the bottom of the tub. One day I had a bath instead and opened the door >

I found her behind a recliner. And no word of a lie- although she jumped in head first, only her back end was wet ;D

One day I had a bath instead and opened the door > I have the weirdest cat ever I guess, he will lay on my chest in the bathtub if I will let him.. with his butt and tail in the water, he doesnt care. I don't think all marshall babies got the memo on being docile and well behaved lol... Hannable is a thinker, he's managed to get inside the walls of my house, inside the washing machine (i'm talking actually INSIDE the machine itself), grabbed the bottom of my robe and climbed up to the top of my closet where he got stuck in a box and almost died from heat exhaustion.. today he discovered I had left the top of the cage open, used that to climb on top of the cage, jumped to my dresser thats a good 3ft away, leaned over and dug at the top drawer and got inside. Then he preceeded to steal stuff out of the drawer, he dropped it on the floor and his buddies would come take it like a little ant train to hide under the couch. The balcony looks like a fun little space to play, they will get lots of good natural light.. I really want to make an outdoor space this year for my kids, they won't be able to use it in the summer because it gets too hot but it'll be fun this fall I'd definently watch your kids when they are on the balcony though..

Oh, I couldn't agree more. Lady Natasha never got the memo either....she's horrible biter and a little too smart for her own good...not as smart as Hannable but no, I think some of them aren't on the same page, but for the most part I guess is what I should say ;D ;D ciao
