My boyfriend renovated our balcony so that the weeze can play out there! We had metal railings with large slits in between so he put up plywood around the perimeter. Sorry no pictures yet.. I lost the charger for my camera They love it!

You will have to get us some pics. I have to admit having a balcony play area terrifies me but I open to anything that allows the wee ones to play safely with some outdoor stimulation ciao

It's so nice to be able to leave the door open.. They were all out playing today when Dorian speed-bumped in the living room.. he suddenly popped up and bounced over to the balcony.. almost as if he had a "Oh yeah!" moment and remember it was open I saw Olivia standing outside and just looking up.. its especially cute since she has never enjoyed being outside before. On top of the balcony my boyfriend Chris also brought home a new tube for the ferrets! The two they have in the living room are kinda shredded but now they have a brand new tube in our bedroom!

careful with those balconies. we lived in an apartment for many years and we would just take them downstairs to the grass to let them walk around. i have had ferrets that could jump about 3 feet. so don't get too confident that they won't be able to jump. some of these little critters are very crafty and come up with ways to get up high. last year on the facebook ferret owners <3 group a girl lost her ferret after he fell off a balcony. horrible internal injuries/bleeding.

Look at that poofed up tail! Cute! I had Remus out on our balcony on his harness/leash last night, which was fortunate because he poked his head out between the slats and then decided, oh, twenty feet isn't all that much! Took him inside after that.

Yeah that does seem high. You could put something rounded along the edge to prevent them from getting a grip on the rim. You can cut some tubing and fit it over the rim. It looks pretty secure though! I bet they're loving it!

Oh yeaah! They are calculating thrust, trajectory, and adhesion! Definitely top the boards with fat round tubing. And dont leave anything loose they can push around to create a launch pad!

I think I might ask him to add a foot or two onto the top. It's three feet now and if we can get it to four feet plus rounded tubing on the top, I think I will feel safer

At 3 feet, I've got guys that can jump up to that without problems. It would be if they've got the upper body strength to pull themselves over or not. I would be very careful. I discovered today that where there's a will there's a way. I had a wee jill discover today that a cleaning bucket was not what she was expecting. I've never had a ferret that can make a clean jump into this particular bucket. It has very high sides (I bought it of just that reason). Lady Morgain, without hesitation or a run at the bucket jumped and landed square in the bucket, she never even touched the sides....come to think of it I don't think she touched the sides on the way out either ;D ;D ciao
