Does anyone know if those 100% biodegradable packing peanuts are safe for ferrets? I've heard of other people using them for dig boxes, and it just so happens that we managed to get an entire box with our cat scratching post.
I ask, because they are taking to nibbling on them. I'm giving them all a small amount of vaseline after playtime, to ensure there are no blockages. But, need to know if these are safe for playtime or not!

If they are eating them, put them away for now. They may "outgrow" it. Go easy on the vaseline, though. It decreases the body's ability to absorb nutrients. I only use it if I suspect an actual blockage. Better to give 1/2 tsp pumpkin a day instead I do use the packing peanuts as a dig box, and just keep an eye on them for munching. They won't cause a blockage, but not good for them to be eating them regardless

I didn't figure they would be. I give her a small amount. Just enough to cover the smallest of her front teeth in a thin coat. I used to belong to a different forum and they said you should give them either pumpkin or vaseline once a week! I take it this was poor advice?

Vaseline shouldn't be given on a regular basis, as it blocks nutrient absorption. Pumpkin can be used as a daily fiber supplement, and save te Vaseline for emergencies
