So I'm having a hard time deciding what I'm going to do with my bed since my ferts will be in my room and have freetime throughout my bedroom. Last time I had foster fuzzies I put gards along the bottom of the frame. However, they were two small females and could squeeze their little fuzzy buts down the corner of my bed (it's in a corner against two walls) and end up down underneath it. Not to mention those gards were a pain in the arse! I was thinking now what I could do is just get another box spring to put under my bed so it would be about the same height but have no under part.. but then I lose all that storage space. Or I could let the fuzzies under there in the first place. My only worry with this is them pooping under there. It's a queen size bed so I cant reach to the back without moving the whole bed, and I DEF don't want poop under my bed lol. So, any suggestion on how I should tackle this issue this time around? Thanks

Well I just recently dealt with poop-under-the-queen-sized-bed deal...Right up against the wall. And yup, only way to clean it is the move the entire bed. Pain-in-the....you know where Anyway, at the suggestion of a forum member, I placed a blanket underneath the bed where Marley was pooping. Seems to have fixed the problem! With the boxspring be careful. If they can get under it, they will most likely dig a hole in it, and then hide/sleep/play in it. Or (god forbid) potty in it I'm lucky. I have a memory foam mattress which the little turds have yet to attack (why do I feel like I'm dooming myself by saying that?!). If you can afford to lose the storage space (I've found I can't store much under the bed because that space belongs to the fuzzies and they like to...explore?...everything I put under there...anyway, if you can, I'd probably just put the bed on the floor. Solves the boxspring issue and the pooping issue

Best bet? Set the bed and box spring on the floor ;D Other than that- make sure to run a black drainage tube between the wall and the bed so fuzz does not get stuck and suffocate. I also put a cut to fit piece of plywood on the bedframe under my box spring so they quit digging and stashing in that. I have a TON of toys and bedding stuffed under the bed to help with the pooping issue.

The only thing I hate about putting it all on the floor is how low my bed will be (I have one of those 4" box springs, not the normal 9" ones so it's like nothing lol). However, the drop in height would make it harder for the fuzzies to get onto my desk/nightstand.... though I'm sure it wouldnt deter them for more than 20 secs. Possibly enough time for me to grab the evil squirt bottle lol.

Our ferret playroom is our master bedroom. The ferrets of course love chilling under the bed and they sleep under there and have made it their cache for toys as well. They were pooping up at the head of the bed against the wall, so I piled a bunch of fleece up there, tied the ends together so they couldn't drag it and weighed the ends down with furniture. They poop less under there, and if they poop on the fleece it's not a big deal. I just pick off the poop with a napkin and toss it in the washer. I do this about once a monthish. They shredded the liner going up into the box spring, so we ripped it down and drove some cup hooks into the wood and hung a hammock up under the bed for them. Now they leave the box spring alone and don't dig at it anymore.

I have a king size soft side waterbed. Poop means tearing the entire bed down periodically to clean it up. Fortunately no one is much inclined to use the space as a litter box now. In between knockdowns I literally used to use a garden hoe to scrape it up after it dried. Then I could swipe around under there with the mop since the floor is laminate. I solved the hole in the box spring problem with fitted sheets put over the bottom of both springs (since it's a king size, there are 2 of them). Somebody told me that trick years ago and twin size sheets are dirt cheap.

I have a queen size mattress on a waterbed frame. It has 3 drawers on each side which I use for ferret beds. I cut half circles in the top half of the drawers so nobody gets stuck.

I had my mattress and boxspring on the floor and Toby dug a hole through the side... but never pooped in there, bless his little heart. Just stashed anything he could get his paws on in there. Ever few weeks I'd have to turn it on it's side and shake everything out; unless my phone or wallet went missing, then it was more often!

Well If you plan to let them just go under the bed, you could try what I do, I put a tub filled with blankets under there, and attached a large hammock to the slacks so it's a place for him to sleep under there and not a place to poop. The area under my bed is probably the only place Rolo has never pooped, but he has potted in all the other corners of my bedroom >.<
Thank god for enzyme cleaners lol or those white carpets would be trashed.

We didn't do any ferret proofing of our box spring and they dug holes EVERYWHERE in that netting so they could climb up there and sleep. When we moved, we tore the entire underneath side of the box spring out. We aren't going to use it until we move to our own place again, but for now, the black netting on a different box spring is white noise to them. They don't even see it. lol.

Depending on the configuration of your room, would just blocking the bed off with a gate work? I just checked, and my Marshall gate wraps around 3 sides of my full sized bed, no problem. I do have extra panels, though it didn't look tight. I use eye screws and L-hooks to attach mine to the wall so The Gentlemen can't move it, but I can get it out of the way quickly.

My boys tore a hole under my box spring and we got a pegboard like you use to hang tools on in garages and screwed it into the frame. It's sturdy but breathes and no one can see. As for keeping them from pooping, I keep my boys in a playpen so I can't really help there. And even before they were in a playpen, they didn't like to poop under there.
