On May 1st I decided to give Hobo a bath before his vet visit in the afternoon. It was a re-check to see if his prostate issues were improving. He seemed to enjoy his nice warm bath. I put him back in his cage and decided to have a coffee out on the deck and enjoy the morning sun. As I was sipping my coffee,I got this overwhelming feeling that things were not going to turn out good at the vet appt. (These feelings would pop up a few more times thoughout the day.) I thought this is stupid, and let Hobo out for a couple of hrs. to truck around. All he wanted to do was flat ferret and go to sleep,I knew he'd not been himself the last couple days.
At the vet it was confirmed that the prostate had not changed, the des and melatonin had not helped. He was fighting an recurring UTI. We talked and I knew where the conversation was going. My vet had Hobo in his arms and Hobo was looking at me eye to eye and there it was "that look". Hobo didn't want to do this anymore,he was in pain. I could feel the tears coming,I didn't want to let him go.
Hobo was given a sedative and I spent the next fifteen minutes loving him and telling him what I needed to say. He was given the final needle and at 4pm he went to be with is girlfriend Cuddles (DIP)who crossed the bridge on Feb 19/12 and his Mom (RIP) Lynne who passed on Feb 20/12 and the rest of Fun-Ferreters Rescue gang.
Hobo was a very sweet and loving boy. One quirk of his that I remember and love was he would get ready take a leap at someone/thing and wind up going backwards he could never leap fwd.
Hobo got his name because he was found roaming the railway tracks. He was turned into the SPCA and they sent him to Lynnes' rescue,he was only 6-8 months old. Lynne spoiled him and loved him so much. He was always so much fun to play with, especially in his younger days.
Hobo I miss you and your momma so much, but I know you're all better now and you guys are dancing up a storm Love ya forever
