Monday: Bone in chicken breast mixed with beef liver Tuesday: Bone in chicken breast Wednesday: Beef liver soupie Thursday: Turkey neck I typically feed her larger portions in the evening. The money has been non existent for a few weeks. I'm going to the store tomorrow for next weeks menu. Shopping list includes chicken legs, hearts, pork liver (possibly kidney and tongue if they have it) Is there anything wrong with giving pig feet? Pig's feet are fine- if you can cut through them! I had one heck of a time cleavering them into meal sized portions. The only thing I can see as a problem is your partial menu isn't bone heavy enough. They have some high calcium needs, and unfortunately, chicken breast simply doesn't contain enough to be considered a bone meal. The turkey neck is great for that, chicken legs moderately so. What you need to look at are things like necks, wings, even tails for the majority of bone meals. Pork rib ends are another. Those here at least are one of the "cheap" meats. I'm happy my guys love them. Pork button bones are another. Just read through your thread. Any luck with the mice yet?

;D why does that not surprise me! Men can be so funny. I buy the uber cheap cuts for the fuzz as a rule. Not long after I switched them, hubby was commenting something to the effect if his new job would mean they could have beef all the time(beef being the most expensive here). Took a bit to explain just why that was NOT a good idea ;D

Right now I have turkey necks, beef liver, chicken hearts and gizzards. Sherry, do you have an opinion on Pig stomach, snout, tongue or uterus? My little market sells them. **the pigs feet are already cut and portioned upon purchase**

turkey necks, beef liver, chicken hearts and gizzards That's three proteins, so that's a good start. But only having turkey necks means they'd be getting 8-9 meals a week of turkey neck. You may want to add in some chicken wings or necks to that. Pork rib ends if you can get them would be a good addition as well. Mine love them, and they are one of the cheapest I can get ;D Also, could you add in some other muscle meat besides gizzards? Any chunk of meats would do for that. Pig stomach, snout, tongue or uterus? The snout and tongue are great for muscle meats, and the stomach and uterus are a fantastic addition to the beef liver for your extra organ meat To give you an idea, a good sample menu with what you've listed could be: Monday- turkey necks Tuesday- beef liver and either pork stomach or uterus(switch it up week to week) mornings, turkey necks evening Wednesday- turkey necks Thursday- pig tongue Friday- turkey necks Saturday- chicken hearts Saturday- pig snout If you can pick up other bone meats, just substitute those for a meal of turkey necks. You could even give chicken drumsticks or thighs for a bone meal a week.

You know something? I may have to backtrack on the snout! I'm honestly not sure if it would be considered an organ or muscle meat for the purposes of the diet!!! I was just thinking about that. It appears to fit the definition for an organ! And what they've had for the last 4 days on there still isn't nearly bone heavy enough.
