Where (In Store) can I buy eggshell powder? Can I buy the fertilizer bone meal they use for plants provided there are no chemicals? Can I buy calcium powder? Are these all the same thing (minus chemicals in fertilizer)? I'm going to the mall and wondering if I can find it in A) Walmart, or B) Pet Store or C) health foods store. Thanks!

I don't think you can find it at regular stores. Google "eggshellent powder for dogs"-- various websites sell it. It is eggshell powder.

I make my own eggshell powder. After the eggs have been broken, I rinse them and let them dry for a day or so, then just grind them up in a clean coffee grinder

And, this way you KNOW exactly what it is (pure eggshell) bc you made it yourself! I bought a cheap coffee grinder at Target which i use only for the pet related stuff.

That's why you have to check the ingredients in the brand of bonemeal you get. I can pick up pure raw bonemeal from a local specialty pet store.

SO.... I found bonemeal powder at a nutritional store. It is pure 100% natural bonemeal powder by a company called Swiss Naturals I believe.. Its great! I got a big bottle and it only cost me about $12.00. Thank you all for your help and I guess now you know that this company also makes it Here is a link! You can see it is pure and contains no additives well.ca/products/swiss-natural-sources-bone-meal_50353.html

So, does eggshell powder function the same as bone meal powder? I'm still trying to figure this out

It functions in a similar manner, yes. While eggshell powder will most definitely replace lost calcium and help firm up stools during a diet switch that may or may not be a long drawn out process- bone has many more micronutrients that eggshell CAN'T replace. And it is preferable. However- since it IS only during the soup stage of the transition that it's needed, eggshell powder usually does just fine It's when you've got an older, or sick ferret where the raw bonemeal powder would be needed.
