I adopted my male kit, Dexter, a few weeks ago from a friend who couldn't take care of him. After a few weeks I'd decided I really wanted a friend for him, so I ended up coming home with another kit from a local pet shop.
(I didn't mean to, really! I just went in for a food dish and she was the only one there, and kept trying to follow me around the store. I got to pick her up and she gave me kisses on my cheek and that sealed the deal!)
I have them both home now, and they are doing wonderfully together. They play, eat, drink, and cuddle together. I kept them in separate cages for the first few nights she was here, but last night I kept them in the same cage overnight and they did fantastic.
Anyways, to my point..
They stay in my bedroom. I share a house with 3 other people, and a dog, and I'm not comfortable with them roaming just yet.
My bed is up against a corner (2 sides are against 2 walls). The issue here, is that one of the corners of the bed hits one of the corners of a floor vent, so it can't sit fully flush against the wall. There's a small gap there and of course, my little monkeys have found it.
So, this is where I need some advice - now that they've found that little gap, they won't leave it alone. I've tried blocking it off (old pair of jeans, a box, random objects), but the items I blocked it off with only gave them a means to climb up onto the bed. They've begun to rip apart the box spring (which sits on the floor) to try and get behind it.
I've considered pulling the bed away from the wall a few inches, just enough to give them space to run around behind it. I'm afraid of the trouble they'll get up to back there, though.. lol.
Rearranging my furniture is unfortunately, not an option. (Crummy floorplan)
What do you guys think?
