OK so I definitely, definitely want to use Des to treat my Keawea. Despite NO hair loss, she has lost weight and her vulva is enlarged, with discharge. She also lost a bit of strenth in her hind legs and is less steady, so it seems that she has it despite her lovely fur. However, it will probably take me some time to find a vet who will do it, plus of course the time to order it. Should I give her a 1 month Lupron shot in the meantime or hold out for the Des? Also, does anyone in the US know a vet who has Des in stock? I'm not adverse to driving as much as I have to in order to expedite the process, though of course fairly close to VA would be great, as I don't know how long of a ride I can get my mother to agree to I'm also hoping they don't ask for shot records-I quit vaccinating years ago due to it causing Rascal's fatal splenomegally and Keawea's mast cell tumor (which is doing GREAT by the way, but thats a post for another thread) Anyways guys, thanks a bundle!

My Pooka is like your Keawea. She has a gorgeous coat, but the symptoms are killing her. Lupron might be what your little one needs to hold her over until you can get the des. That's what I did. Pooka got the lupron until I was able to get the des implants ordered in. There are vets that keep the des in stock in the US, so I've heard. You might try the ferrethealth list. Post and ask, it can't hurt. A vet could ship it to you, charging the shipping to you via your vet. My vet possibly may have a des implant left over from the extra that she ordered for me. The extra was for a little one who probably didn't make it His person was going on the last hope, but he was fairly far gone already, having been on lupron for over a year and a half. My vet doesn't ask for vaccinations, she knows that I don't believe in them and she also knows better than to vaccinate a sick ferret (something an adrenal ferret is). If you manage to get a vet to ship to your present vet, it will be between your vet and you about the vaccination thing. Good luck ciao

I don't know where you are, but I have a vet in Virgina Beach, VA who has the deslorelin. I was pretty surprised. On top of that they say they are going to keep it on hand at all times now. Virginia Beach isn't even that big of a city! You might be surprised, it might be easier to find a vet with the deslorelin than you think My vet is on this list: www.ferret.org/links/vets.htmlCheck it out, these are generally Drs who see enough ferrets to have an interest in getting that drug.

ohmygod oskimosa-I live in Yorktown less than an hour away! ;D ;D Thank you so much! I'll be calling your vet today to try and get her in. Well, I guess the ferret forum has saved her butt for the second time!
