In two years I've spent probably pretty close to $2000 on vet bills alone for Koda. And next to nothing on Kenai. Koda had a >$800 blockage surgery within the first few months of owning him. Then he developed IBD. Then adrenal. Kenai had 2 rounds of ear mites and a microchip. I used to be able to buy $40 worth of meat and have it last about 6-8 months for one ferret. Now I spend $40 on enough meat for probably 2-4 months for 2 ferrets. Da** food prices have about doubled, more than doubled in some cases! I now pay twice what I used to for chicken. It's actually cheaper for me to have a non-chicken based diet now! ;D I have to spend extra though to buy more "exotic" meats because of Koda's IBD. $200 cage $20-80 per bedding set (depending on how much you get and where you get it from) At the very least for a healthy ferret you should figure annually: $50-70 vet visit $100 blood work (good idea to do regularly if you can afford it - it could save you some nasty surprises later when it is too late to intervene effectively) $50 vaccines if you decide to vaccinate (if you ever travel, rabies at least will be required) Then if you get a sickie: $500-1500+ for surgeries $100/mo Lupron $300/6mo-1 year Des $16/mo Pred $30-60 Revolution for ear mites $160-300 X-Rays, more if Barium is needed antibiotics vary in price
