Hi everyone. I have shared my life with ferrets for over 13 years. I have had over 35 ferrets in my life over all those years!
My son was who wanted a ferret. I was afraid of them. I thought they were like rats! I spent some time with a ferret in a pet shop (our first ferret) before we took him home so I wouldn't be afraid. His name was Charlie. He was an albino. I was wearing shorts in the heat of summer and Charlie was sniffing around the playpen I was sitting in with him. I thought oh this isn't so bad! THEN he started the war dance. OMG I had no clue what was going on! He bounced around and then bounced right into ME! I thought for sure I was going to get bit!!! Charlie then licked my leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I FELL IN LOVE FROM THAT MOMENT ON!
Most of my ferrets have been ones that other people no longer wanted. I took in alot of sick ferrets over the years. But I was also fortunate to have many many wonderful souls!
Currently I am attending Becker College in Leicester, MA to become a veterinarian. I'm 50 years young so it's a challenge. My idea is to learn all I can about ferrets! I would like to specialized in exotics. My other thought is to break the cycle of expensive veterinarian care. The majority of people do NOT have tons of money and they still have pets. Those pets need care... and my goal is to be the one to care for them! Not planning on being rich.... just want to help the ones I love (fur folks)
I also help with animal transport. I currently am fostering a lab pit bull mix female. Dutchess is 3 years old and she's a sweetheart. I"ve had her about 6 months now. I also have a springer spaniel (Shelby) who is 14 years old and a pom/chichi/bischon, Kyra, who is 8 months old!
I also have 2 kitty kats that are mine one is 16 years old with diabetes (Onyx) and Milo who is about 12. I also care for 3 cats for a friend of mine who had them in his pet shop, lost the business but cannot take them to his parent's house. : (
I also have a white dove named Byrd.
I have had snakes... 3 ... 2 corns and a king...but decided it was best to pass them on to a friend who also had snakes when I started to find them in the bottom of my ferret cages. no no no! Can't be having THAT!
So that's me. I also have a 21 year old son... Rob.

Welcome to the group,I think it's awesome you're in school to become a vet at 50 yrs young. I've been thinking about going to school but thought I was too old at 54. I may have to rethink that. 
You have a wonderful menagerie and a very good heart ;D.
