Hi everyone! I've been having an ongoing struggle with my cage and money (I need a cage and the money to buy one ;D) so I decided to post an ad on freecycle (a yahoo group) and I got a response from a woman you runs a ferret sanctuary in my area. She invited us over to take a look around, get some information, and advice, etc. I told her what I was looking for and she said she probably has a great cage she could give me . I checked out her website and saw thay she had wishlist for supplies for the sanctuary and I was wondering that if, instead of money (which she's not asking for), I loaded her up on supplies if that would be ok. I know that sounds like a dumb question but I don't know if it would just be better to give her cash instead. Advice?

Why not ask her? She might be totally stoked or she might need the funds for vet costs

Exactly....I know there are often supplies like litter and food that is always in demand but money for vet bills is the biggest expense that all shelters pay out. ciao

I was thinking that, too. I have met her before and she is very nice. I think she'd probably tell me not to worry about it. I may do both-give her some supplies and some money. I know how supplies are always in demand for a place like that. I volunteered at a small animal rescue once and the woman that ran it was so excited when we pulled up with 3 car loads of paper towels, bleach, cages, etc. that we had donated to us. It was a good feeling to help and I know how much she appreciated it.

You could find out what vet she uses and get her a gift card for that clinic then it's not so much money but it's what they need

Generally they have an account at a vet's office that money can be donated to directly.
