I am a ferret newbie (since Monday). We have 2 adult males and the cage I have them in is AWFUL! It is a pain to get hammocks and cubes in and I don't even want to think of trying to clean it! I have been looking into ferret nation cages and have seen a lot of great testimonials. I've looked on Craigslist and Ebay but I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions as to where else I can look. Also, I see that you can add levels to the FN cages. If I could only afford one unit, would it be ok for them until I can get another unit? They do get lots of time out of the cage in a totally ferret proof room. Any advice would be of great help!

I got my Ferret Nation off of craigslist. Took me 2 months to find one, but well worth the wait. I paid a 100 for the 143, which is the double. I had the My Super Pet cage before, and I hated it. Poor design. And I think the 1 unit will be comfortable for multiple fuzzbutts.

If you need to, buy the 143, it will be cheaper..then while you wait/look, you can find a bottom one (141) for cheap too if you have the patience...

Klaudia, I thought 142 was the double, and the 143 was the add-on unit??

141(181) is the single complete unit. 142(182) is the double unit. 143(183) is the add on unit. You can definitely go with the single unit for two ferrets and get the add on at a later date

She was asking about starting with the single. Yes, you can. But yes, it's expensive And yes, you need to start with either the 141(181) or the 142(182) to get the base for the cage. Including the solid floor.

Great! So, I need to look for the 141 or 142. I will do that today. Thank you guys. I will have to cover the ramps and floors with covers, right? I sew so this won't be a problem. I made cage liners for our guinea pigs C&C cage so I think I can manage this, too. Sorry for all the questions...

The ramps, definitely. All the cages come with the new platforms so they are safe.

It may be that you end up getting a 181 or a 182. the 140s are really hard to find...

What are the differences between the 80's and the 40's. I want a add on for my 142. well the 181 work?

No, the two are not compatible. The 140 series was put together with the bolt and nut assembly. The 180 series uses a peg and socket assembly- no tools, it just slips together.

We got our 142 from craigslist for $100. It was a bit dirty but we took care of all that. The cage is so amazing! We built our own and it was fine for a while but it makes a world of a difference. Our babies live it too.
182 i think are about $220. Kinda alot but it might be worth saving up and getting a brand new one so you can take very good care of it.
