Are you talking about olive oil? As long as it's extra virgin, it's fine. Doesn't matter the brand. You may have to use a lure to get them to try it As it is, I still have to cut mine with fish oil before they'll eat it As for amount, about 1/2 tsp a day for each ferret should be good. Again, it's something you'll have to trial and adjust depending on how they react. If they are getting too much, they will have loose stools from it.

Okay I'll try that today. Good news Max ate two cubes worth of raw last night and this morning so far he has eaten 3/4 of a cube. Still trying to get Lil Bit to eat some.

Hey- that's great news about Max And Lil Bit is a stubborn little thing, isn't he ;D He'll get there, though. Just keep at it with him. When you have him on your lap trying to get him to take it, does he really fight against it? Or are you offering the dish, and he's turning up his nose and not interested? What you may wind up having to do is having him and the dish on your lap, scoop some up on your finger, and continue to hold it in front of his mouth. Some will compulsively lick when this is done. With Boris, even now I have to do this with his first taste of lamb(only thing that doesn't set off his IBD ). Once he's had that taste, everything is good ;D

Yeah he mostly just seems not interested, not like hes actually repulsed by it.

Hey- that's a plus! Makes it a bit easier to work around. You just have to keep pushing it with him, and making him taste it. One thing I found helped me keep at it with mine was a line I'd read from one of Bob Church's talks. "If they have to taste meat often enough- sooner or later, they develop a taste for meat". It's true. When Boris' IBD was at it's worst, and he was fighting against eating anything because of the pain, I actually offered him kibble again, since he'd been my worst kibble head. He didn't even know what it was

Haha ferrets can be so strange. I also bought them a can of pumpkin. How often should I feed it to them and how much at a time?

I give 1/2 tsp per ferret daily. It replaces the non digestibles they'd have gotten from the fur of prey, etc.

I have great news to report! Max and Lil bit willing are eating raw now. I put a cube for each of them in the cage yesterday and they ate it. So i give them one in the morning and one at night? I even put the raw next to the kibble and max still ate the raw. Also has had a spaz attack when he tried the EVOO. I shall try with pumpkin today and see what happens. I'm running out of the cubes should i just make more following the same recipe? I really need to get a better blender. When do we start to incorporate new foods?

Bonus!!!! First- give them as much of it as they will eat. And for the next batch make it a bit thicker by adding less liquid. We want it to get to the consistency of wet ground meat before trying to add slivers into it. if you move too fast for them, they'll just quit eating it

I made some more soupys earlier. I just realized I forgot to put the eggshell powder. Is that okay? It's also a lot thicker then last time.

Not a problem about the eggshell. You can always mix it in when it's served up. Try them with the thicker soup, see how they do. If they balk, you can always thin it a bit. If they take it that way, we can start adding in slivers of meat with it in a couple of days

Max didn't eat it, I guess it may have been two thick for him. He also wont eat the pumpkin. Lil Bit seems to like it though.

Hey- this is the first time you've had to take a step back! That's not bad. Just thin it enough for him to eat it. You might wind up going back to what they had before, but that's fine. We'll just thicken it a bit slower For the pumpkin, mix in a wee dab, and also slowly increase until they are at a good amount. Some love it, some hate it, but all will get used to it over time. And it's a really good idea to get them used to the taste now. That way if they get into and eat something they shouldn't have, it won't be quite as much of a fight to get it into them! This is the same reason I'd like you to continue to offer soup even after they are fully on rmb's. A sick ferret will frequently not feel up to chewing on meat, but will take a soup with little trouble as long as they are used to having it. I've also used this soup for my cats when they weren't well. Works for any carnivore!

I had that backwards. Lil bit is in fact the one not eating it while max will eat a whole cube. He still wont eat it even when i add some water. Should I make another batch?
