Im sorry you had to hand money to those people I would call CPS on them if they have kids. How old did they say they are and how old do YOU think they really are? Sounds like the girl has a prolapse. Feed her soupies until you can get her to a vet and make sure to keep them away from your first ferrets. Sent from my SCH-M828C using ProBoards

Thankfully, they don't have any kids. They said Myst (female) was about 4, and that Draco (male) is about 3. I'm not sure, but I'm not very good at aging by the teeth, especially since they've been fed Marshalls when they were babies, and then nasty cat food once the couple got them. I'll try to get some pictures, then maybe someone else will know. Sigh. I thought it might be a prolapse, but I wasn't sure. Poor thing. I suppose treatment depends on the underlying cause of the prolapse. Argh I can't believe the state that those people left them in. And I'm not sure what to tell the vet about their diet, their kibble is in a container, & don't remember the cat food they fed them. :/ Some good news though, at least I won't have to re-litter train them, it seems despite the last few years of going wherever they please, they are happy to use a litterbox! (After the initial "OMG clean litterbox! Let's dig!" phase of course ;D Now off to see if I can get some pictures, and then start on deep cleaning that cage! I'm anticipating it taking me at least an hour, not including setting it up, so I better get to it!

Also, can anyone recommend a vet in my area? (riverview/brandon/tampa bay area) I know of one that does ferrets, but I'm not sure about them & they can be pretty expensive.

Sorry- just saw the update! Those poor wee things Her age looks about right. That dark ring on his is from damage(if I remember correctly). Most likely bar biting.

I bet they are excited to be out! Poor things. Myst's coat looks similar to Noodles when I got him. Is it stiff? It is amazing that so many get fed such crap food. I'm not sure I will ever go full raw, but I'm going to feed the best grain free kibble I can until then. It doesn't take any extra effort for someone to buy the better kibble. /rant over
Congrats on your new mates. I hope the vet says it is a simple fix for Myst.

Bar biting sounds about right. He tried to pull thhat with me today, but quickly gave up when he realized it wasn't getting my attention ;D And yes, Myst's coat is very dry and stiff, poor thing Draco's isn't as bad, but it definitely can improve. and it should soon because these little guys are doing pretty well with their eating! I made some soupie, and then put a little bit of their kibble in so it would smell somewhat familiar, and they drank it all up! ;D. Didn't even touch the kibble, but couldn't get enough of the good stuff! Good sign, I think.
